Honestly, I don’t quite understand what you mean. The album sounds tired to me and I find it pointless; I don’t believe this opinion is forced, nor contradictory for that matter. If you disagree, that’s fine, but also accept an opinion different from your own (it's certainly not the case to bring in somewhat generic sociological connotations). The arrangements of the album may be innovative compared to Cohen's musical history, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that innovation is a virtue. In fact, at times, they even seemed a bit kitsch to me (call it a feeling, an opinion – however you like). As for the lyrics, I believe I’ve already mentioned my stance (indeed, my judgment gives Cohen the benefit of the doubt precisely for this reason). I completely disagree with the final part of your comment. What does that mean? Changes in themselves do not have a positive or negative connotation. It depends on the change. Think about judicial reform (changes that I, for instance, am resistant to). It's not guaranteed that a change is inherently and necessarily a harbinger of positive aspects. In some cases, it’s not bad to be conservative if innovation leads to deterioration. Then, of course, it’s clear that people can have divided opinions on whether it is indeed a deterioration. Bye :)

You know, Mr_Iko, you made me want to listen to it again, so I went home to get it. The images you chose to convey the feelings of this album are really beautiful. Thank you for pointing it out to me at the time and for the review (I hope the chosen samples are okay). Bye.

I don't have a great memory of the "Style Council" either, they've never really fascinated me that much. Maybe I'll try to give them another listen one day. (Nick, did you live in Turin with Tom McRae opening for you? ;)) Jokes aside, how was Tom McRae live? Was it during the time of the first album? What a beautiful "you cut her hair" ... Time has coloured in the black and white... I’ll listen to it again now.

Yes, a great album, listened to a lot for quite some time. The review maybe doesn’t add much to the previous ones, but it doesn’t hurt and is easy to read. By the way, do we know anything about the new album? I’ve read some snippets, but it seems to be lesser than 0. Has anyone heard/read anything?
