I really love the image of the diesel that you paint; it captures very well the idea I had while listening to it. Even the last album grows on you listen after listen; at first, it left me cold, but then... This album is also very beautiful, but perhaps the one I love the most is Lost in space (just between us, I also really like the cover of that CD). Listen, if you haven’t already, check out the collaboration with Jim White if you get the chance. Bye!

I have a few minutes to breathe and I can finally say that I adore this album. I know that for several critics it’s just a good album, but nothing more. For me, however, it is magnificent. Not only for the impeccable music, but also for the lyrics that sometimes show an intelligent irony embedded in a thematic context like that of the "doppelganger." Not to mention the genius of the language in Sijmadicandhapajee and Don't Throw It Away. I also love the evocation of cinema and theater (“dorme un teatro…”). In short, for me it’s a monumental album, and to be honest, some thinking differently, considering it a minor episode in his already immense discography, doesn’t bother me much; it satisfies my snobbery :) The review is, as usual, very beautiful, but at this point it’s almost pointless to say so.
Dire Straits Love Over Gold

I agree with Sylvian, it is not at all true that this album is underrated, as evidenced by the fact that three out of five tracks were included in the live album Alchemy (Telegraph Road, Private Investigations, and Love Over Gold - the latter only present in the video version and not in the double CD). In their last Italian tour, Telegraph Road was still in the setlist as an alternative to Tunnel of Love. The former was performed in Rome and the latter in Florence. Years later, it remains a beautiful album; even Industrial Disease slightly lowers the tone. I vaguely remember a video from this LP, the song was perhaps Love Over Gold and it featured ice skaters... my memory is too distant and very blurry. As for the musical influences on the band, I would also like to mention bluegrass, from which Knopfler derived some elements that characterize - if I'm not mistaken - his guitar technique, particularly drawing from the banjo. Bye.

Indeed, that "reading" of Geordie was a real crime, not this record.
