There are too many aspects to consider in judging a CD as the best! The technique, the imagination, the personality of the musicians... It’s not something you choose just like that. However, I believe that if Cliff were still alive, you wouldn’t have so much admiration for him. Don’t get me wrong, but when a person dies, people tend to fantasize about them. Like Carlo Giuliani, who died in Genoa during the G8; some have gone so far as to call him a hero...

Yes, Metallica have innovated, but they've never been those great masters of technique. Hetfield has a rigid voice, Hammett is all smoke and no fire, Ulrich is quite mediocre (also because they've not made many fast songs), and Cliff... nothing to say, very creative, but that's not enough. I can't criticize Jason because he played the introduction to My Friend of Misery, and Trujillo, who has heard him lately? ... but what does this have to do with this review?

I agree that Cliff wasn’t a great bassist, but I admit he wrote some nice songs. I think even Pivy Vachner (or however the hell you spell it???) is better than Cliff...
