The Doors Waiting For The Sun
Voto:
I see that JimMorrison's ranking matches exactly with mine, which reassures me since someone with a similar Doors nickname must know more than anyone else. The order is the same, but I would be much stricter: The Doors 5; Strange Days 4.5 (I gave it 4 though); L.A. Woman 4; Morrison Hotel and Waiting for the Sun 3.5; and The Soft Parade 3.
Peter Gabriel So

I'll take the opportunity to ask Sylvian: did you receive my reply? And is the review that's about to arrive simply of Peter Gabriel or is it specifically of "SO"?

I see that for you the annual thing is somewhat of a constant, but I don't believe that greater or lesser sensitivity depends on age. Anyway, I’m somewhat seasoned (and I'm not the only one: there’s quite a group of forty-somethings on debaser), and perhaps this has some weight in making me less inclined to excitement, which (I repeat) is easy and understandable when dealing with artists like Peter Gabriel. You, on the other hand, must be quite young: good for you.

Mariaelena, what do I think of your comment? (The one about the angel, I suppose). Honestly, like all truly passionate comments, it’s a bit exaggerated. And besides, I’m a die-hard rationalist and I only believe in angels just enough. But on the other hand, I understand you because one of the most fascinating aspects of Peter Gabriel's music is its ability to evoke mystical sensations, and from this perspective, "Passion" is truly the maximum. Not just from this perspective, to be fair: it's also from a more rationally musical one.
Tom Jobim Tom Canta Vinicius - Ao Vivo
Voto:
I don't have this specific album, but the 5 goes to Tom Jobim, the author of 90% of Brazilian classics, and here he is mostly unknown to many.
Elton John Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Voto:
A rightful recognition for a great artist who incredibly was still not on debaser. The character may be gaudy, kitsch, and anything you want, but what matters is the "ciccia," meaning the substance, and Elton John has plenty of it. Extraordinary melodic inventiveness, great piano technique, a splendid crooner voice that's a bit out of time. Less convincing when he tries to be a rockstar: his bread and butter is the romantic song.

A 4 for the humor, but I have a dirty curiosity: I've heard that the artist in question recorded a song titled something like "I Want the Cock That Does Me Good" (long live honesty). Is it true? And if so, on which LP is it included?
Cream Disraeli Gears

Regardless of the inaccuracies and the skewed rating, which is totally at odds with the definition of one of the most influential groups in the history of rock, the review says very little, while an album like this would have provided many insights.
Paolo Conte Elegia
Voto:
I usually am strict with reviews that overlap with existing ones, and in this case, I should be even more so since the previous one was absolutely perfect (it wasn't mine, let's clarify right away). However, in this case, I am forced to acknowledge that this is not a duplicate, but just another excellent way of talking about the same album. I have some minor reservations about the album: for me, it’s a 4.5, meaning it's of the highest level like everything Paolo Conte does, but it has a few moments of lag. This is entirely my personal opinion: if only there were more old artisans churning out albums like this.
Paolo Conte Paris Milonga
Voto:
For Paolo Conte, it's harder than for anyone else to determine what his masterpiece is, since he has always worked like an old craftsman, not caring at all about current trends, indeed living in places and times that are all his own, more imagined than real. However, I also have a slight soft spot for "Paris Milonga," an almost perfect album, a 6. Like this review: reading it immediately made me forget the disappointment of having let it slip by: I could hardly have done better. And I say this without flattery, so much so that I immediately place it among the recommended.
