Francesco De Gregori Pezzi

Dear Francesco, I must first say that I have only listened to a few songs from this album, and I also want to emphasize that I consider De Gregori a great artist, in many ways unique. However, the impression I've gotten is one of a clever, catchy work that will most likely sell well, but how often do quality and marketability go hand in hand? The standout remains his unmistakable voice and that wonderfully whimsical, wandering writing style that has justifiably made him famous, but I found the music tired, repetitive, and often too predictable. It's been a while now since "the prince" has produced questionable works. It's been too long, considering that his last great album, in my opinion, is TITANIC. More than twenty years have passed, and his creative spark has inevitably dimmed. A figure of his caliber cannot produce works of such low stature. In plain words: he cannot go from BUFFALO BILL to LOVE SONGS. I do believe, however, that he remains a major player in the Italian music scene, sometimes even underrated (I think, for example, of the comparison with De André, which is rather unfit). But when has Italy ever been "ahead" in the history of rock?

The only thing I regret is that... given "love at first listen," I wish I had written it myself!!!!! arghh! :-)

It's a shame that this album has received so few comments. I just finished listening to it, and I must say it is truly a top-quality work. I appreciated Zigghio's review, but to fully understand it, you must have listened to the album. Indeed, it has had a different effect on me now. I must admit, however, that it is not at all easy to "explain" a type of music like this. Its sound seems to almost pass "through" you, so liquid and atmospheric it is. I have rarely heard anything more evocative. Congratulations Zigghio for the recommendation; it’s an essential album.

I don't know the album, but the song presented at Sanremo was anything but memorable, and to say it has a chorus that shakes soul and heart... well...
Anyway, just to add, the best Sanremo song this year was by Velvet. A breath of fresh air... obviously misunderstood. Greetings to everyone!

It's always nice, though, that certain ideas, for better or worse, enter the world of de-baser. Good job, man!

Indeed, this work is a bit ambiguous. Perhaps a tad too pretentious, but definitely original. The idea was to make the music as “stationary” as possible, to literally make it “penetrate” the brain. Maybe some good little students of La Monte Young?

beautiful record. One of the best works of the 80s. There isn't a single track to throw away, danceable and captivating rhythms. a black mass. epochal.

Dear Hal, I said "a background," I didn't say it's the truth. The discussion is very long. I understand that this statement is unpopular. puntiniCAZpuntini, one thing is the rave, another is electronic music with a project behind it, perhaps philosophical... I don’t think they play Klaus Schulze at raves, for example. And anyway, if you pay close attention, I wrote "at least as far as my experiences are concerned." I disagree with the idea of considering everyone on the same level. Men and women are different; it's nature. I didn't say one is better than the other, they are simply different. Hi guys!

In the sentence "women understand nothing about electronic music," there is a grain of truth. That it was expressed in a vulgar way is another matter. In general, when women (at least based on my experiences) listen to something titanic, tricky, grandiloquent, they feel a sense of discomfort, suffering (and also a bit of fear) that drives them away from the record. It's part of their nature, nothing wrong with it. It is what it is, period.
