Ignazio Frogheri: Primavera di granito
File Video I have it ★★★★★
It's undoubtedly the greatest trash movie of all time, beats them all. Forget about "Alex l'ariete"...
Ivan Graziani: Ballata per 4 stagioni
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Very beautiful album, but the best will come only with the next trilogy.
Ivan Graziani: I Lupi
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
The first album from Graziani's golden period, "Lugano addio," probably remains his greatest masterpiece. The rating would actually be 4 and a half balls, but I round it up to 5 out of affection.

""Lugano addio" probably remains his greatest masterpiece" I notice a certain redundancy in this sentence.
Ivan Graziani: Nove
CD Audio I have it ★★★
It never drove me crazy too much; I find it one of his less powerful albums, along with the next one and the one before the last. "Minù Minù" and "Lucetta fra le stelle" are the most successful tracks, even though, of course, they don't come anywhere near his masterpieces. It barely makes the cut.

A refined album in production, it arrives after the self-titled one from 1983, filled with potential "Hits" (the self-titled). Unfortunately, after "the difficult" Seni e Coseni, our artist will never fully recover. "Limiti (Affari d'amore)" is the hit, and "Lucetta fra le stelle" is the most beautiful. Things get worse with the subsequent "Piknic."
  • Ditta
    15 may 20
I agree.. maybe "Piknic" was the low point of his career (even so, he still manages to scrape a passing grade, let’s say a 6-/10). Good ratings will return in 1989, with the rise of "Ivangarage".

Oh just three "less powerful" records. Out of 12? I need to look into this, I've been stuck for years on Seni and coseni. I ask the opinion of @[Ditta], what would be better to recover from post-81?

"Nove" (84), "Piknic" (86), and "Cicli e tricicli" (91) remain decent albums, but quite understated, despite a few gems scattered here and there. In the midst of the crossing, "Malelingue" (94)

I'm going to see if there are any CDs in Arezzo. There's a store that has a ton of out-of-print records, let's see if they have anything from the old Ivanone.

WAIT A SECOND, LUCETTA IS AMONG THE STARS IN NOVE! I found it on a friend's computer, and it always brings back some nice memories. I have to find this Nove, just for that little gem.
Ivan Graziani: Seni e coseni

Already with this we can glimpse the first signs of a change. Overall, a more than good album (despite the subsequent one and all the previous ones being superior), perhaps a bit too cryptic.

Exactly, Ditta! Hermetic and a bit chilly, the first side with "Pasqua" and "Cleo" showcases the two peaks of the Album. The first side has no guitar except for "Cleo," while the second side is more lively but lacks standout tracks. Perhaps this was the Album that cost him his career; after all, he had to change in some way, as "Viaggi e Intemperie" marked the end of a cycle. He would return with the self-titled album in 1983, which was full of potential hits; however, the magical moment (commercially) had passed.
Ivan Graziani: Agnese dolce Agnese

A fantastic album, the pinnacle of the 77-79 trilogy and the best of his entire discography. Title track, "Taglia la testa al gallo," and "Fuoco sulla collina" are the best.

...and "Song for Susy", maybe "Lazy" just a notch better.
  • Ditta
    10 may 20
"Lazy" in my opinion is THE quintessential album by Graziani, much like "Rimmel" for De Gregori, "La voce del padrone" for Battiato, "Sotto il segno dei pesci" for Venditti, and so on and so forth..
Ivan Graziani: Viaggi E Intemperie
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Good album, but not among Ivan's best. However, it includes what is likely one of his top 5 pieces, namely the wonderful "Firenze (canzone triste)." Almost 4.

Great Company! I was commenting earlier on "Ivan Graziani" from '83. This one from 1980 marks the end of his best period, filled with commercial successes (contrary to what many claim, that Ivan was underrated!). It's the catchiest and contains other gems besides the "super" one you mentioned (I remember Ivan on Discoring, wondering who "Barbarossa" was), "Tutto questo cosa c'entra con il R.& R.?" with its irresistible drum riff, "Dada," and the beautiful "Olanda."

The greatest album by Graziani from the second part of his career (1984-1994). 4.5
Ivan Graziani: Ivan Graziani
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
A truly beautiful album, unfortunately underrated (like almost the rest of his discography). As far as I'm concerned, this is Ivan's last fully quality album. To have another inspired record like this, we'll need to jump straight to 1989.

The album suffered the consequences of the flop of "Seni e coseni" and unfortunately, even though it contained several gems and was produced very well... the magic moment had vanished!
  • Ditta
    17 apr 20
For me, even "Seni e coseni" wasn't too bad, come on... compared to the others from that time, it was a bit below, but I definitely wouldn't define it on the same level as a "flop"!
Ivano Fossati: Panama E Dintorni
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
It's another Fossati compared to the one from the late 80s/90s, but overall it represents a significant step forward from its predecessors. Excellent album, packed full of gems, with the captivating "J'adore Venise", the (tragically) forgotten "Se ti dicessi che ti amo", and the wonderful and poignant "La costruzione di un amore" standing out. 7.5

Ivano Fossati: L'Arcangelo
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
I see it as a slight step back compared to the works from '88 to 2000 (and I also add the beautiful "Lampo viaggiatore" from 2003), but it is still a great album. Almost 4.5.
Ivano Fossati: 700 Giorni
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
We haven't yet reached the best Fossati, but we're still talking about a really great album. Moreover, it features what is probably among his top 3 or 4 masterpieces, namely "Una notte in Italia." Together with "Dieci soldati," "Il passaggio dei partigiani," and "La casa," it's the best of the bunch. Great Ivano, from the next one onwards, all will be 5...
Third absolute masterpiece in a row for Ivano, but for my personal taste, I slightly prefer "La pianta del tè" and "La disciplina della terra." Nevertheless, 40 minutes of pure poetry (as always, after all), especially "Notturno delle tre" and "Mio fratello che guardi il mondo."
Ivano Fossati: La Mia Banda Suona il Rock
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
The path we've taken is the right one. Now all we have to do is wait..
Ivano Fossati: Macramè
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Undoubtedly one of Fossati's (many) masterpieces, perhaps the most "ethnic" of all from the 88-2000 period. "L'amante" and "Il canto dei mestieri" are extraordinary.
Ivano Fossati: Lampo viaggiatore
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
One of Ivano's best albums from the 2000s and earlier: an absolutely perfect album in every way with beautiful gems, among which stand out "C'è tempo", "Pane e coraggio", "Ombre e luce" but above all the wonderful "Il bacio sulla bocca". As far as I’m concerned, it’s in the top 5 of the most beautiful Italian singer-songwriter albums of the new millennium.

Ivano Fossati: La pianta del tè

This album is THE perfection, there's not a single piece out of place. Its most successful work, simply extraordinary.
Ivano Fossati: Le Città Di Frontiera
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
It starts here, and it will last for about two decades, the golden era of Ivano. There are many right ideas, but you can feel that the magic of the period 88-2000 is still missing. Between 4 and 4.5
Ivano Fossati: Discanto
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Here Ivano is at his peak: churning out masterpiece after masterpiece, and of course this one is no exception. A perfect album in every way: lyrics, arrangements, and music at the highest level. Simply wonderful. "Passalento" and "Lunario di settembre," damn it..
Ivano Fossati: La Disciplina Della Terra
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
The closing album of the most "refined" phase of his career. An absolute masterpiece, no ifs or buts. The title track is one of those songs that breaks your heart with every listen.

I'm a big fan of Fossati, so I might be giving a somewhat subjective opinion. Between vinyl records, cassettes, and CDs, I have everything by Fossati, and I know it all by heart. Let's say his golden period, at least for me, starts in 1988 with "La pianta del tè" and ends in 2003 with "Lampo viaggiatore." He didn't miss a beat during that time. The three previous albums "Le città di frontiera" (83), "Ventilazione" (84), "700 giorni" (86) and the three subsequent ones "L'arcangelo" (06), "Musica moderna" (08), and "Decadancing" (11) may not be at their peak, but they are close. Before "Le città di frontiera," aside from a few standout moments, he wasn't particularly exceptional, although he still maintained fairly high standards.

With "La casa del Serpente," RCA wanted to make a new Baglioni! Instead, I listened to "La mia banda" and "Panama," and even "La casa del Serpente" itself. I believe Mina and Anna Oxa also covered a couple of tracks from this album. But I also appreciate "Le città di frontiera" (even the one, hated by Ivano, "I ragazzi cattivi") and "Ventilazione." With the subsequent works of the '80s, he combines inspiration and originality, forging his style. As an author for others, he is indisputable ("Pensiero stupendo," "Un'emozione da poco," and "Non sono una signora")!
Ivano Fossati: Good-bye Indiana
CD Audio I have it ★★★
One of the albums that convinces me the least by Fossati, still unripe and too "American," so to speak (starting with the horrible cover). However... here we also find spine-chilling tracks like "Il grano e la luna," "Where is paradise," and especially "Storie per farmi amare," so I can't give it less than 3.5. Then, with the next album "La casa del serpente," Ivano will start to show what he's made of.
Overall, this remains the album that convinces me the least; I still find it too immature and not particularly inspired, but there are still some gems. Almost 3.5
Ivano Fossati: Poco prima dell'aurora
Vinile I have it ★★★★
The most convincing among the albums of the "first Fossati," clearly superior to the previous and the next one, but still a bit immature. Average 3.5, which I round up to 4 out of affection.
One of the most extraordinary live performances in all of Italian music. Immense.
