Bought again after 20 years, and for the past four days I haven't listened to anything else.

A gift from my schoolmates in 4/5 ginnasio (just released, clearly on vinyl, now on the shelf) for one of my birthdays (maybe there were 20 of them, including a classmate I had a crush on). If I close my eyes, I can still see it in front of me and feel its smoothness in my hands. I knew it by heart, every single note. When a record you bought, or rather received as a gift, truly made you happy and filled your days, like something unique that the sky sent you... good times.

perfect songs in their imperfection, among the most beautiful ever written

Exceptional! From the first to the last note, those who think otherwise either hate the cover or have never loved rock. And I didn’t even know who Blue Oyster Cult were.

The cover is wonderfully horrible! No, it's not a criticism, quite the opposite! Great music, how beautiful is The Marshal Plan?

Great album, but if you like their rock spirit and don’t know them very well, I recommend their earlier works; they’re even better!! Stunning cover.

This and FoUO are splendid. For me, they will wrap up with the exceptional Extraterrestrial Live! I don't like Imaginos.

The album I've listened to the most by far, all it takes is to close my eyes.

I would love him even if there were no record.

First chapter of one of the most beautiful progressive fairy tales, the artwork isn't much, but this album is all substance, tightly packed tracks and romantic ballads, electro-acoustic sounds that chase each other in beats and lifts. A tremendous collective effort, the best calling card possible for this wonderful and beloved band.

A very valid debut, yes. For once, I'm also interested in the bonus tracks, or at least one. There's that splendid live version of "Homage to the God of Light" which, I only recently discovered, Bardens brought over to the new group straight from his previous solo career.

Not even, in Livorno the C is usually silent (or only slightly aspirated) if preceded by another vowel: for example "la 'asa" contrasted with "in casa"

Cold and sharp as a blade, for me his best album. After 30 years, it is now available again on a single CD with Secret Streets, the English version. A MUST-HAVE.

In my opinion, in this and in Killers (that is, with Paul), they had a slightly more rock 'n' roll vibe like in Sanctuary, and then there's Remember Tomorrow, which is worth the purchase.

The masterpiece of the Hogarth era. Challenging and very profound, at times a bit elaborate, a definitive and convinced return to a genre.
Marillion: Marbles

The summer is scorching
I just want to dream
Marbles is a winter album I know
but I discovered it in summer, what can I do
summer can be pleasant or it can be a prison
ten years ago it was the beginning of something
today I fish from the bathroom window
the Marillion have been the greatest for at least thirty years
with Fish they were splendid but a bit stiff
with H they are freer to fly
Marbles makes you fly

The best song of the new century, and it will remain so.
Premiata Forneria Marconi: Chocolate King
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
On one hand, the clumsy attempt to send a political message, on the other, a band at the peak of its potential. The result will be a divine album with a powerful and fierce sound, enriched with magnificent openings. Unmissable.
Premiata Forneria Marconi: Per un amico
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Dreamlike, poignant, melancholic, refined. Among the top five, perhaps three, albums of my life. No academia, just poetry, distant echoes of a time that is no more, soundscapes that fade into the depths of the soul.

Ah thanks, Imola is a bit out of the way for me; anyway, I've seen them many times, but now I don't even know who’s there anymore, it's been too long.

Beautiful and magical record, a little more aware of its #zublime little brother that preceded it. Anyway, Mister, I went to see them in Legnano in November 2015: from the historic line-up, only Di Cioccio and Djivas remain (who, by the way, delivered a beautiful solo), since Mussida left to dedicate himself to sculpture. However, the other musicians certainly hold their own, and there's great chemistry.

Ah fantastic! I've seen him with all the formations: Premoli, Fabbri, etc., except with M. Pagani, of course, whom I've seen solo, like G. Piazza who often comes here to Veneto.
Premiata Forneria Marconi: Live in Usa

Live with a bang, too bad about the not-so-great recording, Alta Loma is one of the most beautiful suites I've ever listened to in my life.

It’s true... One of the albums that made me discover Prog. The mixing is unfortunately what it is (sometimes Pagani's violin is almost completely drowned out).
Premiata Forneria Marconi: Jet Lag

Beautiful and unique album, played divinely, with a good mix of technique and the usual progressive atmospheres.

Radiohead: Kid A

I might be wrong, but I find it a jumbled album that starts off well but almost immediately sinks into something bordering on unbearable. Such a pity, I had high hopes for it.

Really? I took it off after the third listen, almost annoyed; it's a shame because I like them a lot.

    4 jul 17
If you don't like it, so be it. It can happen. 17 years ago this album was a bit innovative, maybe today it doesn’t have the same impact. I still like it, even if not as much as before.
  • SilasLang
    6 jul 17
Same. For me, they peaked with "OK Computer". Yes, "Kid A" was innovative too, but in my opinion, they lost their way a bit, drooling over people like the great Autechre, Aphex Twin, and their epileptic friends. It was stuff I had already been listening to for a good 6 years, personally, and during that time I hardly listened to anything else but electronic/techno, etc. Just my personal opinion. It remains a great album, with 'The National Anthem' above all...
  • Johnny b.
    6 jul 17
It makes perfect sense, I completely agree. I mistakenly referred to it as innovative because, as you rightly say, many had been listening to the genre for several years. They had the merit of making it popular, but I'm not sure if the name Indietronica existed before Kid A. The National Anthem is the best track on the album and one of their best overall.
  • SilasLang
    6 jul 17
'Indietronica' is a term I've never heard before, at least not before 2008 and the hipster-douche invasion.

  • Johnny b.
    24 apr 19
I agree, they are close to a masterpiece. I like them overall; maybe King of Limbs is just barely good enough, and the latest one too, even though they frustrated me quite a bit with the lack of new material. As a fan, I didn't find the updated versions of songs I already knew sufficient. My perfect album is one I made myself: Kid A minus the two instrumentals, plus the best tracks that can be paired with Amnesiac.
  • harlequin
    8 jul 19
If I were to make my perfect album between Kid A and Amnesiac, I would remove the tracks with the overly filtered voice (like "Packt...") and maybe Treefingers.
Hunting bears, on the other hand, I like very much.
