Blur: Parklife
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
CD purchased in London, summer 1994. Discovered by chance, but never left behind! - this album is perfect, everything is balanced, it grinds the UK musical genres and reassembles them into beautiful songs while distancing itself from the trends that were in vogue at the time. I have never understood the association with bands like Oasis and the relegation to the 'brit-pop' genre; here we are talking about well-crafted music.

In fact, the real opposition was between Damon Albarn and Jarvis Cocker as two different models of Pop in comparison (at the time of The Great Escape and Different Class), not between Albarn/Coxon and the Gallaghers. This was a "rivalry" constructed by the media, entirely to the benefit of Oasis, who had everything to gain from Liam's outbursts in full delusion of grandeur à la John Lennon.

Bluvertigo: Zero
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
The challenging album by the BV, the album expertly produced and packed with insights, beautiful tracks, and not-so-Italian landscapes. They were different, perhaps not appreciated or understood.
Depeche Mode: Violator
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Not up to the standard of the DM production.
Depeche Mode: Delta Machine
CD Audio I have it ★★★
After SOTU, an album worthy of the band, less fluff and more concrete songs. I still don't appreciate Hiller's production.
Duran Duran: Duran Duran
CD Audio I have it ★★★
I met them with their first album; I was young but I couldn’t stop playing it on the turntable. I liked them (and I still do today), and with the subsequent albums, I spent musical afternoons and had discussions with ‘cultured’ friends who hated them from the start. Then came the post-Arena period (the fake live) and a couple of albums I didn't like... I reassessed them in 1993 with this album, then they got lost, rehabilitated, lost again, and reactivated; they still stay true to the project, perhaps too.
Goldfrapp: Felt Mountain
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
For me, it remains the 'discone' by Golpfrapp, an immense work that requires repeated and focused listens on the scenarios created: absurd, cinematic, and stylish that this project manages to convey.

a level they have not surpassed anymore, even though I think with Tales Of Us they came remarkably close.

Like Tia... the only one I liked from Alison. As a singer, I adore her anyway. Oh, her vocal performance is chilling, especially on 'Pumpkin' by Tricky, from "Maxinquaye"...
Hans Zimmer: Inception
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Music that flows well even without having seen, loved/hated, or watched Nolan's film, is interesting how those damn chords manage to blend within the compositions and how they create dramatic and ethereal landscapes at the same time. Zimmer is a musician who masters the epic and molds it with the use of instruments, whether it's an orchestra or a synthesizer, it matters little.
Nine Inch Nails: The Fragile
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
A perfect album, superb production, innovative sounds, and emotional balance.
Recoil: subHuman
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Alan Wilder, the man behind the sound (until 1995) of Depeche Mode, the man whom DM fans still long for. His absence has yet to be filled. Recoil is a niche project, almost despised by the die-hard DM fans, but highly appreciated by those who have no mental constraints and are eager to listen to music without rules and/or labels. SubHuman is perhaps the 'strangest' album from Wilder's production; it requires many listens to understand, discover, and decipher the immense work of production. Blues

Siouxsie and the Banshees: Nocturne
CD Audio I have it ★★★
A live performance to plunge into the dark abyss of the most colorful decade in history. The 80s for sure, but from another planet. Here’s the essence of this band’s allure.

The Cure: Pornography

What can I say? When I listen to it (vinyl or CD), the emotions are still as strong as the first time I heard it. It doesn’t age, in fact.

One of the peaks in Music from the good Robert; although the personal high point remains Disintegration. Five stars also and especially for the track "Pornography," with that mantric drum intro that then gives way to a dark, decadent, stormy sound: what a pleasure!!...One more day like today and I'll kill you...
