Il Balletto di Bronzo: YS
CD Audio I have it ★★★
An exaggerated work that attempts to imitate the masters Emerson, Lake and Palmer (clearly referenced in the titles, echoing the mammoth "Karn Evil 9") while losing their magic. The third encounter is the best, featuring an extraordinary introduction that is later revisited in the epilogue. It suffers from hubris. The effort put in by Leone, even in the lyrics, is commendable, but that singing is not for me.

Karn Evil 9 seems to have been released a year after this album. With all due respect, wouldn't it be more useful to avoid writing such nonsense? Debasio is already full of it. YS, on the other hand, was such a standalone work that it continues to shine with its own light.

Regarding the date, I acknowledge the gaffe and I apologize. As for the rest, I expressed personal opinions which therefore cannot be classified as nonsense.

Ys is heavily influenced by Arcade Fire, I am Giuseppe Garibaldi and Debaser is Noah's Ark.....personal opinions are not up for discussion.

What are the ELP up to with magic? Sorry, but I hate them deep down. The album in question sometimes drives me crazy, other times I would throw it out the window, so I would say I haven't really formed an opinion yet.

Well, I absolutely love the first 5 albums by ELP, as well as the live one, and I also quite like the first Works. Barracuda: if you want, I’ll give it a 5 just for you. The fact that you are Garibaldi is not an opinion, it’s a fact (false, I presume).

Everyone has the right to give any work the rating they want, but an album like this risks not being understood due to its complexity: it's like throwing together King Crimson, Magma, Mothers Of Invention, and Henry Cow into one pot just because they're "complex." Ys is the classic art record made solely for the love of art; few understood it upon its release, and after over 40 years, nothing has changed, nor am I Giuseppe Garibaldi to convince a thousand followers to join me in unraveling the mystery.

But I like Crimson, Magma, Mothers, and Henry; I have no issues with complex music as such! Then, oh, I expressed my opinion on an album, and of course, one can disagree, no problem with that.

Fascinating idea (the same as EL&P with Pictures At An Exhibition): Bach meets rock music. The result is a great album.

Nah... I've never liked this album. I hate this pompous stuff. In general, I can't stand when rockers decide to play classical music. Often, that idea has just caused damage... On the other hand, I absolutely love their first album, "La Bibbia". Super tough. As for the rest, de gustibus :-)

Oh yes, because Rage from Lingua Mortis made a mess by conceiving that album! "I hate it when rockers decide to play classical..." you’re exactly the same as "W la sperimentale," right? Long live consistency and the nonsense you spout!

Well, what do you want me to do... I like nonsense. Do you have a problem with that? "You're the same one as 'long live the experimental', right?" No, I'm the one who, if he likes something, says he likes it, and if he thinks it's crap, says it's crap. And I don't give a damn if you don't like it. Clear and simple, right?

You came to freely throw shit on a great record. You can't act like a connoisseur if you're going to behave this way.

I don't like this either, even though it has to be understood within its time. It wasn't done to show off as intellectuals; these were years when one had to try the never tried before. Generally, tackiness was around the corner, but there are a few happy exceptions: the Nice's 'Ars longa', for instance. I've never liked Emerson as much as in that case. That album sounds more freakish to me now than pompous. In hindsight, even 'Pictures' is more balanced compared to so many messes from ELP.

Posturing as a connoisseur? Honestly, I'm here to exchange opinions, discover new stuff, talk about music… connoisseur of what? I've loved music since I was a kid, I've been buying records since I was 7 years old, it's not my fault, nor do I want to act like a jerk. I'm just here to discuss and mess around. The record in question, I’ve known it since I was born; my father has more vinyl than I do, especially of this kind of stuff. I simply expressed my opinion on an album that I personally don’t love. I didn’t say 'IT SUCKS' and I would never allow myself to say that. But no one can ever stop me from saying that it has never convinced ME. Meanwhile, I've always adored the first album. That's all. Throwing shade? The site exists to exchange opinions, which is great. If there's something you’re passionate about that I don’t like, just know that it’s normal. If it bothers you, please… open a blog without comments and enjoy yourself as you see fit. No hard feelings.

Well, I get it, but I also criticized The Endless River by Pink Floyd, and no one respected my opinion, not even when I said that Jackson and Madonna have value (if not strictly from a musical point of view, at least they introduced a different way of performing on stage, that too is art, and I agree that musical quality lies elsewhere). But still, in that case, a flood of criticism! Don't talk nonsense, etc... Respect must be mutual, not one-sided!

But then if I say that an album sucks, I’m not saying you don’t understand anything about music. I’m saying that this album really sucks; maybe it’s me who doesn’t understand anything, but the fact remains that it sucks.
