But how beautiful is the opening of "Aloha Steve and Danno," and everything else? For me, it's a perfect score, especially because I’m in love with Deniz Tek.

Oh yes, really a beautiful album.
Ramones: Ramones
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
You always go in one direction: can they play? Well, let's set that question aside for a moment (the usual discussion would open up). I just want to say that their songs stick in your head. Simple yet enchanting.
Ramones: Leave Home
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
First rule is, The laws of Germany
Second rule is, Be nice to mommy
Third rule is, Don't talk to commies
Fourth rule is, Eat kosher salamis.
Ramones: Rocket to Russia

Crazy shards...
Ray Charles: The Genius of Ray Charles
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
"Stop, we can't continue. The third trumpet was down half a tone in the fourth beat of the second chorus." Well, he couldn't see them but in return he "heard" a lot.
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Californication
CD Audio I have it ★★★
They wink at MTV, with a stretched-out nonchalance. Frusciante cleans up and returns to the group.

It would have been better if he had continued to make... at least there he managed to pull out at least one masterpiece ('Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt' from '94 remains, for me, one of the most terrifying and horrible records ever... pure madness. I've loved that album forever. The ugliness, the mental illness, and the delirium made into an album.) 'Californication' almost made me shit myself. Here, for me, the RHCP celebrated their own funeral.
Maturity. Notable mentions include "Give It Away," "The Power of Equality," "Suck My Kiss." "Under the Bridge," "Breaking the Girl."

Come on, there are more...I can't remember the titles anymore, unfortunately, but for me, up until "Under the Bridge," it's a damn great album. The last tracks, I’m not saying they are bad, but they don’t add anything to the album. Except for "Sir Psycho Sexy," that's another killer track.
Renato Zero: Trapezio

Is this the best Renato?
Renato Zero: Zerolandia

Renato Fiacchini; flashy, provocative.

    Right, truly a beautiful album.
Robbie Robertson: Robbie Robertson
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Production by Daniel Lanois and Robertson himself. FALLEN ANGEL was written for the suicide of friend Richard Manuel.
Rockets: Galactica
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
A bit of space rock and space disco can fit in well.
Rod Stewart: Every Picture Tells A Story
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
So Rod was "baking" some nice records then... well, let's leave it at that...
Rory Gallagher: Tattoo
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
A boy from Cork told me that the Irish are truly convinced that Jimi Hendrix said that Gallagher was better than him. Is this a legend? Who knows? The fact remains that Rory is one hell of a guitarist.
  • it depends on what you mean by good. I have no doubt that there have been several guitarists who are "better" than Hendrix. The thing is, Hendrix is, to put it in H. Clinton's terms, THE quintessential milestone of the electric guitar. R. Gallagher is not, or, at best, he is ONE OF the milestones.

I root for Gallagher just because not everyone knows him and he was underestimated. Even though surpassing Hendrix in "skill" is impossible.

Roxy Music, great, a bit too hippie, but great.
  • BARRACUDA BLUE
    19 dec 14
Too hippie, and it's all Amanda's fault for dragging Brian Eno to Carnaby Street into those glittering boutiques for vamp ladies. But Amanda... wasn't she the one from Boston?
  • Renagade
    21 dec 14
Amanda was Rosanna's friend, the one from Toto. I don't know, it's just that I've always thought that songs with a woman's name are lame by default. The only exception is Jessica. Because it was "just" instrumental...
Roxy Music: For Your Pleasure

With Brian Eno, stratospheric...

Even after, even after... At least the first 2 after Eno, then of course there was a bit of a decline, it's only normal.

  • hjhhjij
    29 nov 14
Think that my favorites are exactly "Caravanserai," "Welcome," and "Lotus." Of course, without taking anything away from a great album like this one (with a fantastic cover of Fleetwood Mac) and also the debut. Until the mid-'70s, it has been one of the greatest :)
  • hellraiser
    29 nov 14
I prefer the more "wild" Santana rather than the "guru" one, with an immense Greg Rolie on keyboards. But I admire him up until Lotus; after that, I don't care at all...

One of the coolest funk records I've ever listened to. It oozes drugs and sickness from every groove. Black as tar. Sly's swan song.
  • BARRACUDA BLUE
    8 jun 15
No psychedelic trips, just tons of cocaine. One of those cases where drugs have taken over creativity. Salute to the last 40 years of Sly, out of reality but also out of the game.
  • SilasLang
    8 jun 15
In fact, there’s really nothing psychedelic about this. More psychotic, I would say, ahahah… “Stand!” was psychedelic. Great album too, but totally different mood…
  • imasoulman
    8 jun 15
besides being psychotic, it is the photograph of the end of a utopia, of a dream gone to shit. Cocaine has always played its part with Sly (just like with his dear friend Bobby Womack, how else would he manage to record two colossal albums like Communication and Understanding in less than six months?), but surely here the control was, fortunately, still total, otherwise how would we have had such a masterpiece? He will lose himself later, Silvestro, and unfortunately for us, he will never be found again...
  • SilasLang
    8 jun 15
...but how was "Fresh"? I don't own it and I must have listened to it a couple of times on loan over 15 years ago, and I remember it didn't impress me at all. But since back then I still hadn't fully immersed myself in the Family Stone and old Funk in general, maybe I should give it another listen...who knows.
  • imasoulman
    9 jun 15
I would say that maybe it would be a good idea to have them give "Fresh" a spin or two. In there, you can find practically all the best of Prince and also the non-metallic Red Hot Chili Peppers (which, by coincidence, covered If You Want Me to Stay...). The latest Sly is essential for me (even if some defend Small Talk as well).
  • genevincent
    10 jun 15
For Silas and Barracuda: there isn't much psychedelia (nothing, I wouldn't say...) anyway, the psychedelic trip I meant is in my head... that's the one that takes some nice journeys...
  • SilasLang
    10 jun 15
@soulman You convinced me: I’ll pick it up again as soon as possible then.

Fuck you man... if I'm not mistaken, they titled it like that in honor of Al Pacino, who pronounced it this way in some movie. Funny to think you were 15 in '97...
