Portnoy is gone and the drums sound better to me. A "soft" album, new life after not-so-great stuff.

The only drama is that these guys just can’t stop churning out increasingly pointless albums.

Alè, the circus, alè, pappapparaparapappapparaaa. But I remember this album fondly. On debaser, a competition was held for the worst review, to prevent the usual avalanche of reviews that would have come out about the album anyway. The winner would be rewarded with debaser t-shirts and a wet t-shirt photo of some female user. With what came out, I had never come so close to dying of laughter, great memories.

It's clear that the drimtiater are getting on everyone's nerves. I couldn't care less; I like a few records, I'll add them to my collection and I'll wait for the crap. @[perfect element] if you only knew how much useless stuff there is, and it sounds even worse!

Are you kidding? No, you don't get it. Here, they are liked by many users, old and new on the site. They are our mascot. Whether many think they suck musically (not everything, though) is another story.

Don't be sarcastic. You said it yourself, "i drimtiater stiano sui coglioni e' appurato." But it's not true. Either nobody cares at all, or for some, they've become likable. Sure, we tease them, but it's done with affection. Oh, it's the truth; if only I could dig up those reviews that have long disappeared in literary cases...

    11 sep 17
Oh, I've read dozens of them... after a while, the comments aren't even that funny. But if you say it's like that... and I don't have to butter them up...
  • hjhhjij
    11 sep 17
Nah, I don’t think you’ve read those. The last time I checked, they weren’t in the regular reviews; they were in some literary cases. Anyway, I understand why you like them, but it’s also fun to make jokes about the groups we appreciate.

They went to read them first, hilarious, I also participate the Maestro Pin even if it seems to me that the funniest was that of @[Geo@Geo], but did she get her t-shirt wet with a photo?! Wasn't that how the contest went?! Ahahah

Well, that's what I was telling dsalva, it was a blast, I nearly died laughing. Too bad the new album hasn't generated similar enthusiasm, debaser has changed or maybe it was too ambitious of a project, an album that more than an album feels like a fantasy video game.

@[dsalva] It’s clear that the music world is full of garbage, but that doesn’t change the fact that these guys are churning out one more embarrassing album after another, completely devoid of ideas, stuffed with technique for its own sake, with a ridiculous singer. Aside from a few tracks from the Moore era, the only one in the group with a clear vision has actually said goodbye to them...

@[Geo@Geo] didn't they let you win? From what I've read, there was no competition, but then again, come on, what a bluff! For a noble wet t-shirt of a girl, damn uncle!... I'm at a loss for words ahahah!

Eagles: Eagles Live (disc 1)
Vinile I have it ★★★
the striking evidence of a band that has never performed live as well as in the studio.
  • The Eagles are structurally a band devoid of rock spirit, and therefore limited live. However, they do have a "beast" on stage, and its name is Joe Walsh: when his songs come on, the concert shakes, and the healthy groove that gets the audience moving begins to flow abundantly, only to quietly fade back during Henley's next polemical rant or Schmit's soothing ballad. That doesn’t mean that seeing the Eagles live isn't a pleasure: their catalog of beautiful songs is so rich that it’s a joy to hear them one after another, very well sung with all the meticulously crafted instrumental arrangements in place. In Lucca, about fifteen years ago, I enjoyed their concert like a madman, even though it was measured and almost entirely predictable. This album is pretty pointless, sure, and seems to be edited with quite a few touches, I think. I love the Eagles, but for some reason, I don’t own this album.

Agreed on everything. I, on the other hand, own it, but it doesn't spin much on the plate.

I've always found it to be a disastrous album. I won’t argue about the Eagles' repertoire; there are undoubtedly gems, but also a lot of ordinary and reactionary music, becoming increasingly dry and weak, just as at CBGB in New York, in front of fifty stoned fans, young promises like Talking Heads and Television were playing. For this reason, the Eagles have always represented for me the decline of '70s American rock. This live album reproduces the songs without a single note of freshness or improvisation. It sounds like they're playing back. Punk and new wave swept them away mercilessly.

However, I wouldn't have minded attending that concert in Lucca, even just to smoke a little something at the beginning of Hotel California.

  • @nix: good one that punk and new wave mercilessly wiped out the Eagles. That didn't really happen. Luckily.

vocal harmonies and impactful ballads, a measured yet effective and well-crafted folk rock.

Well, I place Eagles, Desperado, and On The Border on the same level. I like all their albums, One of These Nights is great too, but from there onwards they become more "cool" in a negative sense, losing the charm of their early days in my opinion. This album is beautiful, this ballad about the outlaw gang Doolin Dalton is spine-chilling.
