  Only top 10: among the many that were regretfully excluded, I mention Gentle Giant (Octopus), Orme (uomo di pezza), Osanna (l'uomo), Quella vecchia locanda (ononimo), Balletto di bronzo (Ys), Banco (Darwin), Museo Rosenbach (Zarathustra), PFM (Storia di un minuto). And of course all the other masterpieces of the already mentioned bands...

    ...the Camels, the Caravans... damn, I thought it would be easier! Well, for now, this is it, and then we'll see. Maybe for the next edit we’ll break the rules and do a top 20! In the meantime, let's sleep on it...

  Why limit yourself to top 10/20 etc...? You have no limit; throw it all in there :-D I'm currently obsessed with Faust IV from '73, maybe not exactly prog as you mean it, but I could see it fitting perfectly in my top 10 prog.
