Since you seem to prefer female voices, I humbly allow myself to point out a few names: Kirsty MacColl, Sheryl Crow, Jennifer Warnes, Nina Hagen, Joan Baez, Bonnie Tyler, Candice Night. PS: Joni Mitchell behind that lump of fluff that is Tori Amos is something that hurts the heart.

Some of them I know. Yes, I mostly listen to women XD Tori is my favorite singer, but I have to say that it’s mainly for her earlier albums... I love Under The Pink, Little Earthquakes, Boys For Pele, and Scarlet's Walk especially. I’m diving into Joni Mitchell, I’ve only been seriously approaching music for about a year now, and so far I’ve mostly listened to younger artists.

Alright, alright, after all I had started off way worse... but damn, I'm young too, I shouldn't be talking like my grandfather!

Lol! What did you start with? xD

to be honest, in the beginning it was Queen (and so far, so good), then a fleeting infatuation with Nirvana, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Cradle Of Filth, Manowar, Rhapsody... brrrr, just thinking about it gives me chills; when you wander aimlessly without a defined background, it’s easy to end up on the wrong paths...

Oh my God, you guys actually have tastes that are too difficult for me ahahah
Explain to me what's wrong with Nirvana or Dream Theater xD
    I love Queen too _

But on the other hand, who doesn't love Queen ._.

The Nirvana simply haven't left me with anything meaningful in the long term, the DT eventually become boring, they're a disposable emptiness.

The Nirvana have always been on my "to explore" list, but I haven't had the time yet.

Demian, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there are quite a few people here who can’t stand Queen. As for the "reasons" behind such hate, it's better to just not go there...

But see, you don't have bad taste at all! On the contrary, if you explain to me what that loser Courtney Love is doing here, the rest is all people I not only like (the great Bush, Siouxsie, Mercury - I like the first 5 Queen songs, the rest kind of sucks - Patti, the early Amos) but in a couple of cases, I truly worship (Reed and of course Joni). Forget about the guys from the other list and focus on these and other greats ;). Advice: keep diving into Mitchell because there's so much to listen to, especially her Jazz phase from '75 to '80, and forget about Nirvana; you won't miss anything (well, no, Bleach is actually a good album, just give that one a listen).

Courtney Love has actually stayed too high after the update °-°
I don't know, I like them. But I also like those in the other ranking XD

I would switch Tori Amos and Kate Bush (no one else has made a song like "Wuthering Heights") and replace Courtney Love with Regina Spektor. Aside from that, great ranking! And since you also love female voices, here are a few recommendations: Emilie Autumn, Charlotte Martin, Chiarastella, Zenima (check out her cover of "Wuthering Heights"), Hayley Westenra, Bjork, Annie Lennox, Bat For Lashes, L'Aura (only the first two albums), Janelle Monae, Hannah Fury, Kimbra, La Blanche Alchimie, Sarah Brightman, Sarah McLachlan, Sia, Valentina Giovagnini, and Paloma Faith (who is very commercial musically, but vocally, she’s worth it). Then let me know what you think, alright? :)

I LOVE Regina Spektor, Chiarastella (Microcosmo *o*), Emilie Autumn (Opheliac *o*2), Valentina Giovagnini, Bkork, and L'Aura (Okumuki is like among my top 5 favorite CDs ever, it's a shame it's been underwhelming lately) **
I need to update these rankings properly :-/
I'll listen to the others ^^

I ADORE Valentina Giovagnini! I’ve known her for quite some time, and I think she is definitely among the best we have had in Italy... among my favorites are "L'Amore Non Ha Fine," "Senza Origine," "Il Passo Silenzioso della Neve," "Creatura Nuda," and "Metamorfosi"!
