    I have a controversial relationship with Carpenter, but he has had great flashes of genius and has made many high-level films (Assault on Precinct 13, The Fog, Escape from New York, In the Mouth of Madness...). I think Park is among the best and most personal of recent years, and Yimou has made at least one authentic masterpiece like Raise the Red Lantern. As for the rest, the first three earn my respect (for what little that's worth).

    If you put Carpenter and Bava among the worst, then it means your man, a sixty-year-old former continuous struggle to whom you express suffocation in your CSOA, has told you a bunch of bullshit. Look at the films Lao Zecca. Guru froci and Wikipedia will not save you.
