Bruce is good (up to Nebraska) but he’s not even a bit off-kilter... I mean Waits, Dylan, Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Tim Buckley, Neil Young, and even Cohen (for that endless sadness) are off-kilter, some more than others... the Boss is definitely not... anyway, for me he’s a good songwriter and an excellent rocker at least, as I’ve already said, up to Nebraska...

It will mean that when there is a ranking for the best quirky artist, I'll put Waits and won't even include Springsteen; what's the problem? I don't love him just because he's quirky :) I "judge" what I listen to based on what it gives you, this ranking reflects (more or less) my emotions while listening to these artists. Then, of course, it also depends on the day... like Van Morrison, I don't listen to him very often, but there are days when he could be in second place, just like Waits. There are no great artists like Zappa, Led Zeppelin, Velvet Underground, and many others simply because when I listen to them, I don't derive any benefit from it. (point)

There aren't even Genesis, Jethro Tull, ELP, King Crimson, and many other great more or less progressive music simply because the genre has never caught my interest; that the musicians of these bands are amazing virtuosos, I certainly don't doubt.
