    springsteen, dylan, guthrie... at this point I would also include tim buckley, tom waits, van morrison, neil young, robert wyatt, frank zappa, captain beefheart, lou reed, and certainly leonard cohen... well done!...

    ...and clearly besides the Byrds, also Spirit, Love, Creedence, Beach Boys, Zombies, Sonics, Animals, Kinks, Quicksilver, Jefferson, Grateful, Keleidoscope, Fairport Convention, Pentangle, King Crimson, Van der Graaf, Who, Small Faces, Seeds, Monks, and of course the Rolling Stones... well done!

    You don't speak poorly of Zappa and Morrison in my rankings, the rest I find quite indifferent.

    ...but objectively, Green Day and Guns N' Roses have never written a My Back Pages, a Visions of Johanna, a Desolation Row... songs of unquestionable quality... I mean, if we're questioning certain artistic levels, even Dostoevsky wrote crime novels and Beethoven composed military marches.
