The Profile

Steven Van Zandt, known as Little Steven, is an American musician, songwriter, producer, and activist, longtime guitarist in Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. He spearheaded the anti-apartheid "Sun City" project, portrayed Silvio Dante in The Sopranos, and hosts the radio show Little Steven’s Underground Garage.

American guitarist and singer; member of the E Street Band; initiated the Artists United Against Apartheid "Sun City" project; acted in The Sopranos; hosts Little Steven’s Underground Garage; has run a record label; solo albums include Men Without Women, Voice of America, Freedom: No Compromise, Born Again Savage, and Soulfire.

Two reviews spotlight Little Steven’s political edge and guitar fire. Freedom: No Compromise blends dance-rock, Latin touches, reggae, and sharp anti-apartheid/foreign-policy critiques. Born Again Savage strips to a power-trio for raw, 1969-inspired hard rock with Jason Bonham and Adam Clayton. Standouts cited include Bitter Fruit and the eight-minute Face of God. Overall tone: energized, pro-activism, and pro-riffs.
