Being loyal is very important. So, now you go outside and say: "Good night, I had a wonderful evening." You close the door, get in the car, go home, have a wank, and that's the end of the story. more
Nothing special, the usual pre-packaged '70s hard rock crap and quite annoying... a few good tracks in the very early works, zero originality, desire to create, sound exploration... some live performances are truly embarrassing... more
Indispensable, Ferretti's turning point was a great disappointment... perhaps one of the biggest musical disappointments I have ever witnessed. more
Something good can be found in the first two albums and in the CD "In Utero," including the slow and "painful" (apparently) All Apologies... live, whether it's the so-called grunge attitude or the mythologization of Cobain, some evident limits have been concealed (taking away the Unplugged, they really become unlistenable at certain concerts). Returning to the mythologization, we might be talking about one of the most overused projects by teenagers all over the world... more
Genius, nothing more to add. more
One of the best prog albums of this millennium. Complex, technically flawless, filled with tension and drama. A product of the American and Belgian RIO school. more
The first whimper of the sludge monster Isis. It’s an album that already contains everything stylistically that the band will carry forward into the future. However, it still lacks that eclecticism they will find later on, just as the classic post-rock openings are less convincing than they will become. That said, it’s still a debut that, despite its apparent confusion, already has the distinctive traits of Isis. "Gentle Time" is a standout track. (7) more
The end of the Lizzy era, the last album before Lynott's death three years later. It’s a rockier work than the two previous ones, clearly nodding to the heavy new wave of the early eighties. For my tastes, their best since the distant days of "Jailbreak." (7.5/8) more
In the second part of their career, for me this is their least successful work. I gave them several chances, but it never impressed me. (5.5) more
Same goes for the previous album. Rock energy and songwriting have faded. (6) more
I’ve never been able to fully digest this one. It doesn’t engage me, even though it’s still the usual work of mastery and class. It lacks a bit of compositional verve. To me, it's a sort of “unfinished” album, even if the title track is a great piece. (6.5) more
Another hit for the Irish, even though there’s always something missing in terms of songwriting to reach the heights of the masterpieces of the past. Notable mentions include the title track, "Opium Trail" and "Dancing in the Moonlight." (7.5) more
A successful, engaging album that is always enjoyable to listen to. It suffers from the comparison with what came before. (7.5) more
It's not really my thing, but damn, he's good.

Authorial indie rock, sad songs that warm the heart. An extraordinary series of albums that peaks in the trilogy Alligator-Boxer-High Violet. Special. more

Perhaps (and I reiterate perhaps) the best guitarist of the last 20 years... Good with Creed (just good because the lack of solos weighs in), outstanding with Alter Bridge where he finally shows everyone his immense talent... Also good in his solo career... more
Oscar Garcia (vocals), Jesse Pintado (guitar), David Vincent (bass guitar/vocals), Pete "Commando" Sandoval (drums). Their debut "World Downfall," released in 1989, is one of the bloodiest, murderous, and uncompromising albums of the emerging Grindcore scene of those years...FEAR OF NAPALM... more
Legendary sequence of tracks, one can almost sniff the decadent moods, the icy innovation, up to that compromise between Neu! and Fassbinder that permeates the tolls of Mass Production, perhaps the peak of the duo's romps in that Berlin interior. more
