Iron Maiden -Iron Maiden
Raw, brutal, direct, majestic, highly technical, with a slightly punk vein: INESTIMABLE MASTERPIECE. more
Iron Maiden
Very important for heavy metal, but not the best. more
The Apples in Stereo -Velocity of Sound
I love this band and, in general, the whole Elephant 6 universe, but this record is, in my opinion, little more than mediocre. A 'bubblegum' album made up of very short songs, as is tradition for the band, with a particularly noisy vibe reminiscent of what could be the Pavement from their first album. Distorted guitars dominate along with a certain surf orientation in an album that is definitely catchy, but simply lacks those standout songs found in other releases from this band (and from the entire label, whose artists I always like to consider as a single package, a large and friendly collective). For me: a half misstep. more

Smash Mouth
I can't give less than 3 because those who lived through the period when these fucking fagiolari were in fashion (and who remembers the music videos with the chubby guy spitting while surrounded by waves of ass) we all, and I mean all, were caught up in those shitty singles that seemingly had no democratic or artistic meaning and were psychologically null, good times. more
Beck
Misunderstood genius despite being a bit of an asshole and self-centered. more

Roberto Vecchioni -Blumùn
It’s the album by Roberto Vecchioni to which I’m probably most attached (along with Robinson) and one of those that, in my opinion, has a more convincing and less heavy sound than usual. His lyrical abilities are, after all, undeniable and widely recognized, and even in this case, there are what I consider gems, like 'Gli amici miei', one of the most beautiful songs Vecchioni has ever written. Intro and closing of the album by actor and comedian Gene Gnocchi. more
Van Der Graaf Generator -Pawn Hearts
Composite album from one of the fundamental bands of the progressive genre Made in UK. The record features three tracks (and in the 2005 reissue also some more or less interesting bonus tracks). Long symphonic sessions where Peter Hammill's band showcases all their compositional skills and musical knowledge. Unfortunately, I couldn't appreciate it as much as it deserves. The best moments for me are in the second track, 'Men-Erg', at times acidic like the MC5 might sound, although here we are obviously talking about something quite different. more
Steven Brill -The Do-Over
This film is a hybrid. Balancing between what could also be a sometimes brilliant black comedy with some interesting ideas and what could be defined as the usual typical Adam Sandler movie. I don’t want to be a detractor, but I realize that without those inevitable falls in style, this could have been a good entertaining film. Instead, it's an action comedy with ups and many downs, featuring Sandler and his friend David Spade, who, due to more or less tumultuous circumstances, find themselves at the center of a plot and in a confrontation with the powerful forces of the pharmaceutical companies intent on suppressing the spread of what would be a new and revolutionary cure for cancer. Predictable happy ending, as per script. more
Amedeo Minghi
I take responsibility for what I say: a great master of Italian song. more
CCCP Fedeli alla linea -1964-1985 Affinità-divergenze fra il compagno Togliatti e noi: Del conseguimento della maggiore età
It doesn't matter whether the CCCP were actually "communists" or not; this album is objectively a masterpiece. more
Keith Richards
But how the hell does he hold a guitar like that and play stuff that people will still remember a hundred years from now? more

Bixiga 70 -The Copan Connection: Bixiga 70 Meets Victor Rice
Released via Glitterbeat, one of the most unique and interesting albums of early 2016. 'The Copan Connection' is the meeting of Bixiga 70, a band that plays funk and dance music from South America, and dubmaster Victor Rice, a New Yorker transplanted in São Paulo, Brazil. Recorded in Victor Rice's own studio, the album is a mix of dub music and beats, the ideal kaleidoscopic soundtrack for what is one of the biggest metropolises in the world, namely the city of São Paulo, where 'Copan' is indeed a modern architectural complex. An eye focused on the present rather than the past or the future. more
