In my opinion, if someone doesn’t understand what’s extraordinary about Imagine, they should forget about music. There are so many other things—football, sailing, sudoku, scientific card games, cattle breeding... ugh, it’s hard to imagine how many other things one could dedicate themselves to, but they should leave music alone. Confusing banality with simplicity is a serious and all too common mistake. Pete Seeger used to say, "Any fool can complicate, only a genius has the gift of simplicity." Imagine is genius.
