Arctic Monkeys
It may be strange, but they amuse me. more
Sweet -Give Us a Wink
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of rock, transitioning from glam to hard rock in just a few years. Excellent album! more
Frank Zappa
Simply a polymath genius! more
Led Zeppelin
I adore them; they have changed my approach to music. Robert Plant's voice would make Joe Satriani's hair stand on end, and what can we say about Page... more
Sweet -Sweet Fanny Adams
The true kings of glam rock!
My old favorite. more
Mclusky
One of the greatest bands of the last decade. Fucking great. And "McLusky Do Dallas!" is one of the coolest bastard noise-punk works ever. more
Muse
Their early albums are beautiful, especially Origin of Symmetry; The 2nd Law is a bit disappointing, but they are definitely the leading representatives of Alternative Rock and also show great brilliance from a Neo-Progressive perspective (before criticizing, listen to "Exogenesis Symphony"). Finally, I believe there are few bands like them in live performances. more
Lamb of God -Ashes of the Wake
Ashes of the Wake is a piece of history in modern metal, drawing post-Thrash influences from the 90s Pantera and seasoning them with vocals in full Metalcore style. In the 48 minutes of this album, one can hear a clear evolution compared to the earlier works of Lamb, which were much more bland. However, there is a slight sense of lacking a slower track to break up the continuous aggression of the quintet. more
Katie Melua
Beautiful voice, beautiful woman, and class and refinement to spare, even though often a bit too "perfect" in her interpretation. more
King Crimson
I scroll through Debaser and what do I read? People giving 1 or 2 out of 5 to King Crimson! Oh my god, I get that there are people who give 5 to One Direction, but it's just unbelievable not to give at least a 4 to these Gods of music! more
Opeth -Blackwater park
Among all the magnificent releases by Opeth, Blackwater Park remains my favorite. It's incredible how they manage to make a genre like Death Metal so complex and psychedelic, even better than Gojira would in the years to come. I can't say anything else but: Listen to it! more
Neutral Milk Hotel -In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
Among the names of the '90s Indie Rock Underground scene, the Neutral Milk Hotel stands out, releasing In the Aeroplane Over the Sea towards the end of the decade. It is a simple yet richly layered work that employs Lo-Fi and Grunge inspirations to captivate the listener, all tied together with the excellent vocals of dear Jeff. The result is the manifesto of the genre, an album to be listened to in peace, allowing oneself to be carried away on the plane. more
The Les Claypool Frog Brigade -Live Frogs Set 2 (Animals Pink Floyd Tribute)
The tribute that my cousin Les wanted to give to one of his favorite albums; a live performance that highlights the enormous technical ability of the Frog Brigade and their innate ironic flair that is clearly felt in the sublime flow of the songs. With each new listen, I always feel the same infinite pleasure in hearing "Animals" of pinkfloydian memory reimagined by that genius character known as Les Claypool.....Essential... more
Tool -Lateralus
One of my favorite albums. It's incredibly difficult to describe it in just a few lines, but the fact remains that Lateralus is such a complex and varied album that understanding it requires much more than a few listens. It's a meticulously crafted work that offers us brilliant gems showcasing the genius of Tool (the connection to Fibonacci) without getting lost in too many unnecessary interludes like unfortunately happened with Aenima. The result is the essence of the band, a masterpiece that even surpasses the p more
Death -Symbolic
In my opinion, the best Death Metal album of all time. There's not a single note out of place, and each member of the band enriches a perfect, innovative, and never tiring songwriting with precious technical skills. more
