Debut album for the British band, year 1970. The band was founded the year before by two members of the Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Vincent Crane on organ and keyboards and Carl Palmer, who at just twenty already demonstrates his great skills on the drums. With the arrival of Graham on bass and flute and John Du Cann on guitars, the group releases the album, a quality progressive hard rock that is very similar to Deep Purple Mark I. Notable tracks include the excellent "Winter" and "Before Tomorrow," composed by Crane and more
WE!!! WANT TO GOOO!!! TO THE FESTIVAL BAR!!!! BECAUSE THERE'S THE BAR!!! BECAUSE THERE'S THE BAAAAR!!!! <3 more
Beautiful. For the most part, it’s electric, fun, and silly; I believe it’s a one-of-a-kind in Mr. E and his Eels' career. It’s not a masterpiece, but tracks like "Dog Faced Boy," "That's Not Really Funny," and "Souljacker I" (my favorite, irresistible) alongside the fiery conclusion of "What Is This Note?" are absolutely scream-worthy. Naturally, there are also more "slow" and melancholic pieces, especially the beautiful "Souljacker part II" and "World of Shit," but not only that. "Teenage Witch" is also fun. It’s truly a great album. more
Beep, drones, obsessive rhythms, and drafts of melody with plenty of cacophony. With a minimal ensemble of voice, drums, percussion, and a handmade oscillator, what emerges from this bizarre New York duo is perhaps the truest electronic rock avant-garde of the '60s. In one word: aliens. more
So tender that it could be cut with a breadstick. more
Twenty-five tracks compressed into 38 minutes and 34 seconds; this is the second work of the Swedes, a total sonic massacre. Manic shards of evolved grindcore, with hardcore inserts that make the sound wall solid and on the brink of audibility; there isn't a single second of pause, the songs follow one another, leaving no time to reflect, to think, to go insane. The legitimate offspring of Napalm Death, whom fate defeated; in memory of Mieszko 1974-2004... Unclassifiable... more
We are nearing the milestone of twenty-five years of career for the Finns, during which they have released eleven studio albums; a long journey for them, starting with a classic Death Metal that has given way to a gothic-folk, with hints of hard-prog, until arriving with their latest works at a solid form of metal rich in melody... Fascinating... more
Top-class prog rock + The stunning voice of Heslam = A show!!! more
Hard rock with skillful nods to the seventies: this is the sound of the Swedish group led by Michael Amott, already the guitarist of Carcass. And it is precisely the leader’s guitar, with that heavy, full-bodied sound, a characteristic element of a band that has been delivering balanced power albums for twenty years... Mantrici... more
Not bad at all. more
Born in Sweden in the early nineties; their grindcore is destabilizing, played at an unheard of speed. Unfortunately, the singer Mieszko Talarczyk, of Polish descent, passed away in December 2004 in the tsunami that struck Thailand; "Grind Finale" is the last work published in 2006: a double compilation where, in just over two hours, they overwhelm us with ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-TWO tracks... Inhuman... more
The latest album by Sophia, the band of Robin Proper-Sheppard, dates back to 2009; and listening to it is indeed a supreme and rightful pleasure for those who have loved and still love the musical poetry of a band that has made simplicity in execution one of its core elements. The languid notes that accompany the flow of "A Last Dance (To Sad Eyes)" where a repeated and mournful guitar sound gives way to a chorus that is so melodic, so eternal...Essential... more
Heartbreaking post-rock with violin strokes! You find them by adding Black Heart Procession to Calexico and multiplying it all by Mogwai... Nice mathematical formula: I like it! more
An intense and emotive prog rock. Haslam's voice is tear-jerking, it's that beautiful and crystal clear! more

Americans from New Jersey born at the end of the eighties; a short career, with only three albums released. A metal-funk with thrash influences that made the sound devastating and hypnotic; noteworthy are the self-titled debut from 1991 and "Dropped" from 1993... misunderstood... more

They didn't achieve the commercial success of many other inferior groups. Lanegan, however, knew better. more
What a lovely discovery this album from 1970 is: rock, pop, soul, blues, etc... An album that flows like water with winning melodies and a relaxing sound. more
