THE REVIEW

If this album didn't have the songs "L'uomo che hai di fronte", "Vuoi star ferma!" and "Walzer di Gonna", this would be a 5-star Vasco album. Instead, it remains an excellent album but there's a bit too much. Instead of releasing 13 songs (not counting the intro), couldn't he just have included 10?

Vasco today no longer writes songs like "Siamo solo noi" or "Vita spericolata", also because it would be inconsistent with his modern lifestyle, and besides, you can't remain a child all your life. However, the fact remains that Vasco has matured over the years. This album is proof of that. It is a Vasco not only mature, but also very angry during this period, and you can hear it in the words (a little less mumbled than usual) echoing in this record. Try listening to the well-known "Gli spari sopra", "Delusa" and "Stupendo" (perhaps the most beautiful in the entire album) and you'll understand what I'm talking about. Among the most famous there are also the splendid "Gabri" and "Vivere", the latter has a final guitar solo that every time I hear it, it delights me as much as being in front of a naked girl or a Botticelli painting. Besides "Vivere" and "Stupendo", my favorite of the album remains "Ci credi" (which I call "the opposite song of Vita spericolata"), a track in which Vasco demonstrates his maturity, and he does it with the usual irony that is never lacking.

It's a shame that this song is unjustly underrated. The other notable songs in order of beauty are "Occhi blu", "Hai ragione tu" (with Pino Daniele on guitar), "Non appari mai" and "Lo show". The latter will open the concerts that Vasco will hold on the tour following the release of this album in 1993.

Many will think that Vasco is just a drug addict or a good-for-nothing racist, others a living legend, but the fact is that he is always much-discussed and whatever happens, he will continue to be talked about.

Vasco is changing, and not only the fans are noticing it... Musically, he is improving: much more rock, much more anger.

'Gli Spari Sopra' is considered primarily a rock album, or better, Italian rock.

It’s a solid effort, but perhaps not his most inspired work.

Fans will find moments to enjoy, though it doesn’t quite reach the heights of his classic records.
