The Tytan were born in the early '80s from the dissolution of the glorious Angelwitch who, after writing Metal history with their first self-titled album, decided to retire from the scene. The departing Dave Dufort and Kevin Riddles (drums and bass) formed a group through which several notable figures of the British Hard Rock scene passed: Les Binks (already with Judas Priest in the previous decade) and Simon Wright (AC-DC).
Extremely unlucky and still forgotten today, despite the 2004 reissue (by Majestic Rock) of their sole album legacy, the splendid Rough Justice, a testament to a glorious and unrepeatable era that was the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.
Rough... looks to epic and melodic Heavy Metal, with influences mostly stemming from overseas Hard Rock. From the curious and catchy choruses of “Money For Love,” “Forever Gone,” and “Far Cry” to the unspoiled Heavy of “Cold Bitch” and the epic and spectacular “Rude Awakening,” the best track on the entire album.
The production is excellent and refined with no raw sounds, and the compositions shine for their fervor. One of the best Underground Heavy albums released in the '80s.
