What can one expect from a singer like Tiziano Ferro? Who has produced mostly insipid albums like “Rosso Relativo” and “111”? Simply nothing, in fact, one expects an album that barely reaches sufficiency…
And indeed, here comes the launch single “Stop! Dimentica,” an insipid electronic ditty, with a somewhat engaging rhythm, a simple chorus to remember, but nothing more.. So if the single is like this, imagine the rest of the album…
Honestly, I expected something like the album “Supernature” by Goldfrapp, with which the launch single has something very similar. Instead, it was a little surprise this album “Nessuno è solo,” composed of 11 little tracks, 11 little reasons not to feel alone, of which 9 are intimate and very personal songs (excluding the already mentioned “Stop! Dimentica” and “E Raffaella è mia,” a tribute to Carrà, which becomes a song of pure fun). The album is very acoustic, sometimes reminiscent of sixties or '80s atmospheres, it is dominated by acoustic guitar and rarely by electric guitar. There’s piano and simple but very tender melodies and, at times, sorrowful. It is not an album made just to sell, but it is a heartfelt album, where the only essential message lies in the title: for better or worse, no one is alone, for better or worse. There is always someone.
Usually, the third album is the one of artistic maturity, which in this case coincides with the personal maturity of the singer, with notable vocal gifts (listen to “Ed ero contentissimo,” one of the most beautiful songs, to believe it). But this is also an album of rupture from the easily commercial musicality of the previous two. Listen to “Tarantola d’Africa,” one of the most wrenching and moving songs, not only of the album… Truly exceptional. With the hope that he continues on this level and does not reverse course to sell more, but with less genuine songs. Genuine, this is the suitable adjective for the songs.
To be listened to without prejudice, because sooner or later someone creates something beautiful, simple, that goes straight to the hearts of people, without struggling to seek unique, innovative, and baroque sounds.
Because truth and simplicity are the only things people who are lonely need…
"The album’s most fitting adjectives are 'true' and 'authentic', all with the significant vocal abilities that Tiziano has always demonstrated."
"Tarantola d’Africa is a jewel for its lyrics and music, with a truly well-crafted and airy arrangement."
Tiziano Ferro is an excellent, celestial singer-songwriter who, with one of the most beautiful voices ever heard, gives us 11 pieces of heart and songwriter’s music.
Nessuno è solo is an absolute masterpiece, comparable to the Beatles’ albums in a certain sense.
It is so explicit, without barriers or façades of convenience, revealing a guy who is not just a pretty face with a beautiful voice and a rogue smile, but also a person full of fragility and insecurities.
If there’s one thing this beautiful album is full of, it’s the sense of loneliness.
