The Moody Blues are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1964, known for blending rock and orchestral elements and for the seminal 1967 album Days of Future Passed.

Classic lineup (mid/late 1960s): Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Michael Pinder, Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge. Pioneers in the use of the mellotron and in symphonic/progressive rock; Days of Future Passed (1967) is often cited as a landmark concept album.

DeBaser reviews praise The Moody Blues' late-1960s symphonic/progressive peak (notably Days of Future Passed) and their use of the mellotron. Several later albums receive mixed reactions (Octave is seen as weaker). Space-themed To Our Children's Children's Children and the accessible A Question of Balance are highlighted.

For:Fans of 1960s/1970s progressive and symphonic rock; listeners exploring classic concept albums.

I have always considered the Moody Blues one of the best ensembles of the 60s.
