THE REVIEW

Returning after their second album (which achieved unprecedented success in charts worldwide), they release their third masterpiece just one year later (in my opinion, an excellent record even though many may not agree), titled "Steal This Album".

The album (as the band explains in various interviews) is not, as many believe, a collection of rejects and useless songs released to make some money, but a compilation of songs not included in previous works simply because they didn't fit with a cohesive sound. Having made this premise, I present to you the album in question: it is the union of various elaborated pieces not included in the two previous works. This CD marks the end, and thus the abandonment, of the "hard and raw" sound to which System Of A Down had accustomed us... in fact, after this, the two "twin" albums "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize" will be released, decidedly more commercial compared to the previous three works.

In this album, Serj's voice is utilized very well with several "shouts" and the constant alternation of vocals between Tankian and Daron. A song definitely worth mentioning, and the first single, is "Boom!". The video (and especially the lyrics) discusses the various wars around the world, the despair of the people, and the ever-growing selfishness of the ideas of "powerful" men. A "spoken" song in the verses but a really powerful chorus full of energy, especially when he shouts "Boom! Boom! Boom!".  Besides this song, the CD consists of 15 other tracks quite similar to each other. It's not an album comparable to "Toxicity" but it's still noteworthy, having reached platinum just like the others.

Among the various songs, there isn't really a precise deep and elaborate connection... In the long run, it could become monotonous and "meaningless" (not in my opinion, but many think so). However, the various pieces are always overwhelming, danceable, and angry

An album that, in my opinion, will be greatly appreciated by the "true" fans who listen to anything and everything from one of the most innovative bands in Metal history like System Of A Down.

Summary by Bot

Steal This Album by System Of A Down is a powerful follow-up to their successful second album, showcasing a raw and hard sound. Although composed of tracks not fitting previous albums, it is a cohesive and energetic record. The standout single "Boom!" delivers a strong anti-war message. While it may lack the depth of "Toxicity," it remains a platinum-worthy album appreciated by true fans and metal enthusiasts.

Music is all a matter of emotions.

Anger, chaos, schizophrenia, poetry, politics, brutality, the anthems of the only truly nonconformist band, in soul, spirit, and body!

Steal This Album is a collection of spectacular songs, full of aggression, grit, and quality.

Each song gains value also thanks to the previous one and gives value to the next: an album therefore to be listened to in sequence and not shuffled.

Calling this merely an album of leftovers is a massive mistake.

It is an album that demonstrates the true talent of these four American boys of Armenian descent.
