"Shadow Zone, I come to realize that I'm not home now, but you can't see inside me"

This is how the chorus of the fourth track of the eponymous album by Static-X opens, in my opinion one of the best albums of 2003.

This album is criticized by some and praised by others, why? Let's find out together by analyzing this album as meticulously as possible.

The album opens with the bombastic song "Destroy All" which in my opinion is the only flaw of the aforementioned CD, being too "powerful" compared to the rest of the album, and changing the theme compared to the tracks of the previous albums.

After this initial musical "explosion," Static-X returns to their usual fare, with the songs "Control it,"New Pain" and the immortal "Shadow Zone".

These songs, although two of them do not exceed 3 minutes, are in my opinion the best of the album, for the excellent use of electronics that Wayne and his mates make in combination with the heavy rhythms of the songs.

Subsequently, two other tracks open that approach the heaviness of "Destroy All" in terms of lyrics, but remain distant in terms of instrumentation, I'm talking about "Dead World" and "Monster", which even though brief, strike for the lyrics that in my opinion are among the best on the CD.

The seventh song on the album is the famous "The only", made famous by the appearance of this song in "Need for Speed Underground 2"; I think this song will be remembered only for this appearance, as it is fairly banal in my opinion, although the lyrics are striking right from the start.

Without dwelling on the individual tracks, the following six are:

Kill your Idols
All in wait
Otsegoletric
So
Transmission
Invincibible

These songs are quite similar to each other in terms of rhythm or lyrics, but turn out to be extremely diverse, despite everything, and manage to communicate emotions to anyone. For this reason, I believe this album is recommended for the older fans of the true Static-X as well as the new fans.

Another downside of the album is its length, as this is indeed the band's shortest album, with a duration of approximately 39 minutes, considering that 7 songs do not exceed 3 minutes.

In conclusion, without going on too much (which might seem boring to some), it is enough to say that this album has only two flaws, namely the length of the album and the first song; otherwise, this album can easily be considered the band's masterpiece, on par with "Wisconsin Death Trip" and the immortal "Machine".
