POLYSICS are a Japanese new wave/synthpunk band from Tokyo, formed in 1997 by Hiroyuki Hayashi. Known for high-energy performances, uniforms, and visor-style glasses, they channel and twist Devo’s legacy into hyperactive, glitchy pop-punk.

Frequently compared to Devo; lineup referenced in reviews includes Hiroyuki Hayashi (leader), Kayo (keyboards/robotic vocals), Fumi (bass/vocals), and Masashi Yano (drums). Now Is the Time! was released in 2006 on Tofu Records.

Three reviews paint POLYSICS as a Tokyo-born, Devo-besotted blast of new wave and synthpunk. Now Is the Time! is praised for invention but dinged for excess. We Ate the Machine gets called their most cohesive. The best-of Polysics or Die!!!! is straight-up recommended for pure pogo fun.
