Nothing to do, I would've sworn on my sister's head (R.I.P. holy woman)
I promised myself to bypass the thing and pretend that nothing would push me to listen to it and yet... I fell for it, head over heels.
Damn Nostalgia nostalgia Canaglia (quote)
OK let's say it: the new album (?) by Pink Floyd is a De Profundis announced.
A very dark new age sermon, with vocals on only 3 tracks, that adds nothing to the pharaonic endeavor of the most revered English group in the world.
In fact, if anything, it "takes away"... because HERE there is no trace of "magic", there are no echoes of The Wall, of Ummagumma, and not even of The Division Bell (from which these long and frankly pompous out-traks are taken).
There is nothing memorable and nothing worth spending money on.
Psychedelic atmospheres (for what this word means today, along with "punk", "Heavy" etc.), harmless and nebulous songs that lead nowhere: an album good for background listening if you're reading a book by Amanniti or Houellebecq, an indigestible hodgepodge of dreamlike/visionary atmospheres very close to the latest works of David Gilmour, who undoubtedly acts as the leader.
An album that is neither fish nor fowl and that, as soon as you finish listening to it (what a big word!), you can calmly put it back on if you haven't finished what you were doing.
It will be a hit as music in elevators or airport waiting rooms... and who knows if, deep down, that wasn't the planned marketing purpose.
Genesis, Pink Floyd... all that’s missing is King Krimson's "sellout" redoing Discipline with house beats with Shaggy rapping over it, and then we can toss years and years spent venerating "myths" that ended in... ugliness!

"The Endless River is a good product at the end of the day, it inevitably mirrors the atmosphere of Division Bell."
"The solo in Louder Than Words is fabulous to me, and for those who love this extraordinary guitarist, it’s a nice treat."

"It is everything a true fetishist of the group would have always wanted to hear."
"It probably won’t be the best, but it is certainly the most sincere and heartfelt of farewells."

It may not be the best but it is certainly the most sincere and heartfelt of goodbyes.
The Endless River does not propose novelties, but it sounds like the Pink Floyd of the 'Post War Dream' would have and should have.

This album demonstrates why Pink Floyd are unique in the world and why only they manage to deliver this type of music and atmosphere.
It’s also nice that in this record Gilmour’s guitar does not overshadow Wright’s keyboards, given that Endless River was created to pay him tribute.

"It is not an album for novices... It’s for long-time fans who have exhausted their entire discography."
"It should be taken with emotions, and with this they have succeeded fully."
