I found out that Ferragosto existed when I was about 13 or 14 years old. I celebrated it by taking a ride on a bus and seeing the city empty. I asked what people did for Ferragosto: si fanno i secchioni. I didn’t get what was fun about it, not even for New Year’s Eve.
My father said it was just a day like any other. We didn’t go to the seaside because he said there were too many people.
Anyway, I prefer the fog and what it hides.
