Son of a fruit vendor, he was born in the province of Palermo and was the youngest of seven brothers. At the age of five, Francesco Rosario Capra emigrated to America, starting to make a living as a "newsboy" on the streets, selling newspapers at ten years old to help his family make ends meet. But how great he became... twenty years later, he co-produced and directed "It Happened One Night," with which he won five Oscars. It wasn't his first film, but that's another story.
