At school in the 2000s, there were well-defined musical categories:
1) well-dressed rich kids without a real sense of belonging (not even to themselves), who erratically listened to light music.
2) metalheads with their inevitable denim jackets and associated accessories.
3) punks who had transformed into emo kids of the first hour, albeit with some regrets.
4) little ravers constantly searching for raves.
5) a few scattered early hipsters who believed they were indie-pen(d)ent.
What’s happening today?
It seems to me that rock has flattened out, favoring identical maranzini who still traverse legacies of auto-tune and trappers seeking their own monastery... was it worse when it was better...?
