In 1988, Andy Gibb, the younger brother of the Bee Gees trio, passed away. In 1987, he recorded a demo called “Arrow” which, posthumously, in 2010 became the song Arrow Through The Heart. A gem of a song that diverges from the sound of late seventies records and showcases remarkable artistic maturity in terms of music, melody, and lyrics. The atmosphere is dark and melancholic, and the line “I’m too young to die” seems to foreshadow what would happen just the following year. Andy would die at just 30 years old from heart complications, and surely substances like cocaine, which he was using at that time, didn’t help. This song is the spiritual testament of one of the artists in my life, a stunning and unforgettable voice.
