he had undergone heart surgery a couple of years ago.
In the famous plane crash of '77, where three of the original "LS" died, namely singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist/singer Steven Earl Gaines, and his sister, backup singer Cassie LaRue Gaines, while the "lucky" Gary was left severely injured with two broken arms, a leg, and a fractured pelvis, stomach and liver perforated,
and now he’s gone, taking with him his “Free Bird,” which he could perform a solo of up to 14 minutes and nothing...
