UOMINI CONTRO - Gorizia tu sei maledetta There isn’t a time when I return to Italy and pass through Gorizia – I do it on purpose – that I don’t think of this song. Even the mountains in Slovenia, like Monte Tolmino for example, have a devastating significance for me and encapsulate what war is, both in 1915 and now in Ukraine – all humble and realistic words. Giovanna Marini met Bob Dylan early in her career in a famous American venue – the name escapes me, but BD sang there freely almost every night. She noticed his aggressive and domineering behavior, but then she listened to him sing Mr. Tambourine and erased the image she had made of him. An artist doesn’t need to be likable after all. We don’t have to take him home with us. (Maybe!) :))
