He collaborated not only with Lowell Fillmore "Sly" Dunbar, with whom he formed a famous duo, but also with the incredibly talented Joan Armatrading on the song "I Can't Lie to Myself," as well as with U-Roy, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Sugar Minott, Carly Simon, Augustus Pablo, Yellowman, Gary Barlow, Garland Jeffreys, Sinéad O'Connor, Sting, and "Black Uhuru," not to mention Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, Yoko Ono, Serge Gainsbourg & Grace Jones, the aforementioned "Sly and Robbie," "The Revolutionaries," and "The Aggrovators," as well as with our own Francesco De Gregori and Jovanotti.

His name was Robert Warren Dale Shakespeare, "Robbie" to his friends, and he passed away yesterday following kidney surgery in Florida at the age of 68. (r.i.p)
