Not long ago, I read and shared the following anecdote. Charlie Watts was quietly, silently, slowly, beautifully sleeping in his hotel bed when he received a call from Mick Jagger, who along with the rest of the Stones was waiting for him in the rehearsal room. Mick jokingly (but not too jokingly) asked, "Where has my fucking drummer gone?"

Without answering, Charlie hung up, got dressed, and upon arriving in the rehearsal room, punched Mick in the face, telling him: "Never call me 'your drummer' again, because if anything, you are 'my fucking singer…'"
