James Lawrence "Jimmie Lee" Vaughan, after nearly breaking his neck playing football (American football, to be clear), had to stay quiet and wear one of those stiff collars without being able to move his torso until he fully recovered. The fact is that a family friend gifted him a guitar, telling him that with that he would hardly have other accidents, and from that moment on he was only interested in that, starting to play at 12 and practicing constantly.

Around 16, he ran away from home and formed his first band, the Chessmen, and in '74 he founded the "Fabulous Thunderbirds," a rock blues band that would only achieve success from '86 onward. However, three years later he left them to duet with whom? Easy, with his little brother, Stephen "Stevie" Ray Vaughan, considered one of the best rock/blues guitarists. Due to a plane accident, they would perform together for no more than a year before SRV sadly flew away forever. Unlike Jimmie, Stevie started playing the guitar at 7, learning from his brother, and without any knowledge of music theory, he played and sang by ear, being a true self-taught musician. There’s more to tell, but for now, I’ll stop here and... and that’s it!
