Breece Dexter John Pancake loved to hunt, camp, and fish.

He lived in Cabell County located in the State of West Virginia, in the Appalachian Mountains, a mountain range situated in the eastern part of North America...

He left us at just 27 years old due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, presumably suicide...

I knew nothing about him until about half an hour ago; if it weren't for "Trilobiti," a book of 12 stories that Chiara (my favorite niece) is reading, I wouldn't have continued to know anything for a while...

He graduated (five years before saying goodbye to us forever) in '74 and also taught at the Military Academy of Staunton, also in Virginia...

Strange coincidences: he was a devoted fan of Philip David Ochs (who attended that same Military Academy of Staunton where years later Pancake would teach), a journalist, musician, and folk singer-songwriter. His friend Bob Dylan said: "I simply can't compete with Phil... he keeps getting better." However, this appreciation and friendly rivalry ended in 1965 when Ochs criticized a Dylan song, and the latter kicked him out of his limousine, shouting: "You are not a songwriter. You are a journalist!"...

Another coincidence (unfortunate...) Phil Ochs committed suicide by hanging himself on the bathroom door; it was April 9, 1976, exactly 3 years before Breece D'J Pancake...
