The famous 3J, namely J.J. Johnson, also credited as Jay Jay Johnson, which is James Louis Johnson.
He is considered one of the greatest trombone players of all time and undoubtedly the most important bebop trombonist.
He succeeded in transferring the bebop musical innovations of Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie to his challenging instrument, playing the slide trombone with great speed and mastery.
J.J.J. was also an important soundtrack composer, especially for films of the so-called "blaxploitation."
He officially died of prostate cancer, although it seems that the illness drove him to suicide… and that’s it.
