The Profile

Mouse on Mars are a German electronic duo of Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma, active since 1993. They fuse IDM and experimental electronics with playful rhythm and sound design across albums such as Vulvaland, Iaora Tahiti, Niun Niggung and Radical Connector.

Reviews note the duo’s shift from early ambient/kraut-inflected IDM (Vulvaland) to the more song-oriented Radical Connector, the abrasive braindance edges of Varcharz, and the acclaimed Glam (1998; reissued by Sonig in 2003). Collaborations include Stereolab’s Mary Hansen and Laetitia Sadier on the Cache Coeur Naif EP. Publicly known: the members are Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner; the group is German and active since 1993; they have created soundtracks/jingles (e.g., WDR) and remixes.

Five DeBaser reviews map Mouse on Mars from the debut Vulvaland to the song-forward Radical Connector and the abrasive Varcharz. Glam (1998, reissued by Sonig in 2003) spotlights their soundtrack roots and experiments. Cache Coeur Naif features Stereolab voices. Across decades, the German duo blend IDM rigor with playful grooves.
