LA RECENSIONE

Good morning everyone. Today I'm here to talk about the Korn concert at the Alcatraz in Milan on 12/03/17. The show starts with Hellyeah, a band known for the presence of Pantera's drummer, well, listening to Vinnie Paul is always a pleasure, too bad we didn’t see them, although strangely, despite arriving late, there were still many people who had to enter, so I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t make it in time; they probably played around seven. I arrived at the Alcatraz with immense joy because it was the first time I was seeing Korn and my first metal concert! Once inside Alcatraz, Heaven Shall Burn, a death/brutal death metal band, were yet to play, a bit boring because they basically only use scream and growl, so-so, I didn’t know them, so I can’t tell you much more. Around 21:30, an unforgettable moment... Korn starts!!!! To warm up the crowd, they begin with "Right Now," the first single from Take a Look in the Mirror. Seeing Jonathan Davis move in his own style, singing his way, was beautiful. Jonathan is my favorite singer, Head my favorite guitarist, and Ray my favorite drummer. The crowd is in a frenzy; all the Korn fans are singing "Right Now" at the top of their lungs!!! The lights? Well, squares with fantastic effects and magnificent color changes. They played really famous tracks including "Freak On A Leash," "Blind," "World Up," which is a cover, and "Falling Away From Me." Of course, like every rock/metal concert, there’s always a solo by a musician, and Korn did a drum solo that was worth the concert on its own! Guess what they played after the drum solo? Well, nothing less than "Blind!" It was frenzy, everyone jumping and shouting: "Are you ready?!!!!" It's a shame they didn't play "Daddy," my favorite, although it wouldn't have fit perfectly into the setlist. Also too bad they didn't play a bit more from the new album (review coming soon). Other albums that were a frenzy for the audience included Issues and Follow the Leader. "Falling Away From Me" was like "Blind," everyone shouting before it started, and then... jumping! I would've never imagined such a crowd for metal music in Italy. The crowd was less enthusiastic during the last album, even though we really liked it. With "Coming Undone," they referenced "We Will Rock You!" It was really fantastic to hear a bit of Queen sung by us in the audience. Unfortunately, it didn't last long (about 1 hour and 20 minutes); it would have been perfect if it had lasted at least 2 hours. See you with the next review.

Despite some less enthusiastic moments and a somewhat short setlist, the overall experience was unforgettable, especially for a first-time metal concertgoer.
