The fact is that when Julie screams, it's like a whole work hits me, a half-emotional, half-artistic peak. Not so much an “I'm a rebel, I have the scream in my skin” affair, but rather a demon killer feeling.

...

It's not easy to scream so artistically, to bring out the inside and do it as God commands. It doesn't matter if you're desperate and give me a scream, that's not the point.

Then again, the scream always being sacred is unquestionable, just like it's unquestionable that if you never scream, I'd recommend you do, but the fact is we're talking about art here, and that makes a certain difference, at least I think so…

Then, if you don't think rock is art, what the hell are you doing on Debaser?

...

The inputs meanwhile, that is, what leads where, how, and when, in this case: external stimuli + you being who you are + how everything miraculously holds together.

(One) a vague wandering through the newly released albums, (two) the fact that I've had enough, (three) my shabby thespian being as well as Sunday painter and absolute beginner at my venerable age…

Then okay, never talk about oneself says Tizio Caio Sempronio, only I’m not capable, and I would even explain why but doing so would only worsen the situation.

...

So, therefore…

As a shabby thespian, I wrote a play about the scream, and although I am a damn poetic fool, after the said scream I wanted to place a metal piece at the most killer volume possible, which I eventually did not do, opting instead for a starry sky effect.

One day, though, if I get out of fooldom, I'll probably add the metal, it will be the day I turn from round to square.

...

So, therefore…

As a guy who's had enough, doctor Julie did well to treat me, oh she did, track one in the car I've listened to about ten times a day for a month, these things do good, better than a little pill, better than a kick in the butt, better than almost everything...

...

So, therefore, and finally...

As a 2024 album, I'd say this stands among the very top and, net of a few missteps, each listen continues to confirm it. In short, love has struck between me and this girl, not like for Polly, Patti, or Nico, but we’re on the right path.

...

And anyway, from track one to track four, it's a powerful album, one is the science of screaming, two pop with shredded chorus, three pure tension, four a blow not even Thor could deliver.

From track five onwards, everything fades, sometimes you hear the child, sometimes still the witch: it's a handful of extremely torn ballads interspersed with a spell and another blow.

In a strange sort of romanticism, clouds arrive, bells too, and the air becomes clearer to better host the lightning. From whisper to scream takes just a moment because here, scream you must always and anyway.

Stuff that brings down the world even if the world keeps looking at you with that somewhat indifferent gaze, which is how all worlds have gazed since the world began...

...

Ok, but now I'm here, that is, I'm in the car, and it's minute three of track one and damn, we're almost there, a tense, hypnotic, tribal sound has brought us to the climax and it needn't be said that the science of the scream is also, and especially, about how one arrives at the scream…

Yes, we are. Julie screams one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen times…

And in the end, the starry sky arrives…

Could it be that the shabby thespian isn't so much of a fool after all?

...

Ah, Miss Julie, besides having recorded another album fourteen years ago, she was the singer for Made out of Babies, Battle of Mice, Cult of Luna, Spylacopa, all tough stuff that I obviously strongly recommend…

...

Ah, I forgot: a round of applause for the cover...

Trallallà…
