Here is the first (and hopefully not the last) album from Jet, an Australian band from the outskirts of Melbourne. The Jets, as they have clarified, are huge fans of the Who, the Rolling Stones (incidentally, the manager of the epic British band also offered Jet the opportunity to be the supporting band for the Australian tour of his clients), the Faces, and Oasis. Like the latter, the Australian group is mainly composed of two brothers; Nic and Chris Cester. In addition to them, the band includes Cameron Muncey and Mark Wilson.
"Get Born" was recorded at Sunset Sound studios in Los Angeles, and it is a very varied CD that ranges from very calm and relaxing pieces such as "Look What You've Done" (a true masterpiece of the band, written by Nic) and "Move On" to more exhilarating ones like "Rollover DJ" and "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" capable of getting anyone who listens to this record dancing. As a first album, it can be said that it is definitely good and very listenable... we will hear more about these Jets and this Nic Cester in the future.
The debut album from the aeroplanes disappoints right from the first listen.
Everything reminds too much of something else... it copies in a boring way.
"Listening to these four young guys from Melbourne... it feels like taking a leap back about thirty years."
"It’s pure lifeblood for the musicality and melody of an album that... leaves you with that sense of satisfaction and contentment."
Finally, a bit of good old rock’n’roll.
It’s one of the few recent releases that can be appreciated after the first listen.
Every single song, if released thirty-five years ago, would have been a classic of the genre.
For those who love no-nonsense rock, Get Born is an album not to be missed.
