THE REVIEW

Here is another must-have album from the 90s, the fabulous "Grace". Definitely a classic.

We can say that this is the album that epitomized the connection between grunge and classic American songwriting (let's remember Jeff was the son of Tim Buckley). The entire album is actually a blend of aggressive guitars, very soft melodies, and Jeff's anguished and wonderful voice. "Mojo Pin" perfectly illustrates this concept. Very beautiful melodies up to the grunge climax at the end. Then there are some very beautiful covers, particularly that of Leonard Cohen, "Hallelujah", which I personally find so intense, melancholic, and poignant that it will be the song for my funeral (the later, the better, I hope). Other standout tracks are certainly "Last Goodbye" and "Grace", with beautiful oriental influences woven into the grunge fabric.

"Lover, You Should've Come Over" is also very beautiful, a romantic ballad with a capital R, "So Real", which has a very strong and perhaps unsustainable intensity, and then the concluding "Dream Brother": a crescendo of guitars that is both icy and warm at the same time, which I am sure inspired Radiohead on "Ok Computer".

Unfortunately, Jeff Buckley never returned from that midnight swim in the Mississippi, but this album will forever warm our hearts.

Grace is the most beautiful debut album I have ever listened to.

Listen to this CD, and your life will change; I don’t know if it’s for better or worse, but it will change...

Sure, if he didn't whine so much... sounds like Pink Floyd with a beaten dog instead of Gilmour.

Too melodramatic, over the top... the others in the band are anonymous: they sound like Hootie & The Blowfish.

An immense album. The genius of an artist emerges, impetuous.

Ambassador of his soul, an unparalleled and multifaceted voice.

I believe Jeff Buckley’s voice borders on perfection!

Not a single note or letter of the entire album is placed by chance, almost composing a mosaic made of pieces more unique than rare!

The tracks ... become INDELIBLE MARKS, they become TEARS, they become ditches that carve my bones.

Grace is just that moment. The one that doesn’t come back anymore. And that you dream of forever.
