In 1998, I accompanied a dear friend of mine to Treviso to see a psychologist. One evening, while returning home, he lent me Grace and said: "listen to it, the PSycho lent it to me!" After two songs, I realized it would become my favorite CD: it still is today! Grace is my universally favorite song! Purchased in 1999 for 8,000 Lire from a hypermarket bargain bin.
I believe Jeff Buckley's voice borders on perfection! The interpretation of the songs on the CD, in all their complexity and variety, have made Jeff a symbol of contemporary music and the CD a masterpiece of contemporary art! It's certainly not thanks to the water that took Jeff away forever that he became famous!! Absolutely not! Songs like Grace, Last Goodbye, Alleluiah, Dream Brother, gathered on the same CD and interpreted with the strength of spirit and voice of Jeff, make the CD a musical reserve of unique splendor! Listening to some tracks on a "serious" system, it seems clear that not a single note or letter of the entire album is placed by chance, almost composing a mosaic made of pieces more unique than rare!
Pavanello suggested that it's nice to pick up some copies of Grace from the Auchan bargain bins, keep the CDs in your room, in anticipation of a birthday/anniversary gift: what a more appreciated gift, even for those who don't know it!
In 2005, I no longer accompany my friend to the psychologist, but Jeff Buckley, and especially Grace, remains, from that day, my favorite CD!
Grace is the most beautiful debut album I have ever listened to.
Listen to this CD, and your life will change; I don’t know if it’s for better or worse, but it will change...
Sure, if he didn't whine so much... sounds like Pink Floyd with a beaten dog instead of Gilmour.
Too melodramatic, over the top... the others in the band are anonymous: they sound like Hootie & The Blowfish.
An immense album. The genius of an artist emerges, impetuous.
Ambassador of his soul, an unparalleled and multifaceted voice.
The tracks ... become INDELIBLE MARKS, they become TEARS, they become ditches that carve my bones.
Grace is just that moment. The one that doesn’t come back anymore. And that you dream of forever.
Jeff Buckley wrote music like a painting, like a poem, a coherent work with a much broader vision.
Grace is lysergic, it is catharsis, excitement, explosion... and then coolness, calmness, introspection, all at the same time.
