THE REVIEW

There are those who (cunningly) write music by sticking to the usual-basic-infallible three chords, following a tried-and-true pattern that gets stuck in your head after just a few listens... and maybe someday we could all rise up and become the Ligabue (but there would be so many others) of the future... Then there are those who write (and therefore live) music like a painting, like a poem, like a coherent work with a much broader vision... that's who Jeff Buckley was. A young man whom I imagine indulging day and night to write the perfect album, one that encapsulated everything he had taken from music and wanted to give back as a tribute... this might perhaps be the only flaw of an overly emotional album: too much going on, a youthful mistake that a too premature death did not allow him to rectify in a subsequent record.

But Grace is still lysergic, it is catharsis, excitement, explosion... and then coolness, calmness, introspection, all at the same time... the only way to understand it is in its entirety, in the rollercoaster of emotions it offers, in the rollercoaster of its sharp peaks and delicate low tones... or listen yet again to Liga... if you find more in it...

Grace is the most beautiful debut album I have ever listened to.

Listen to this CD, and your life will change; I don’t know if it’s for better or worse, but it will change...

Sure, if he didn't whine so much... sounds like Pink Floyd with a beaten dog instead of Gilmour.

Too melodramatic, over the top... the others in the band are anonymous: they sound like Hootie & The Blowfish.

An immense album. The genius of an artist emerges, impetuous.

Ambassador of his soul, an unparalleled and multifaceted voice.

I believe Jeff Buckley’s voice borders on perfection!

Not a single note or letter of the entire album is placed by chance, almost composing a mosaic made of pieces more unique than rare!

The tracks ... become INDELIBLE MARKS, they become TEARS, they become ditches that carve my bones.

Grace is just that moment. The one that doesn’t come back anymore. And that you dream of forever.
