THE REVIEW

When it was released at the end of 2004, music journalists praised it as "a surprising blend of metal and rap." In reality, this is only 50 percent true; the songs are horrid and Linkin Park is already too rap-like, despite having a skilled and likable DJ (Joseph Hahn) and an MC (Mike Shinoda) who doesn't leave any mark and gives himself much more airs than any Fred Durst.

"Collision Course" is the worst musical trash I have ever heard, and the third and final proof (after "Reanimation" and "Live In Texas") of the almost total lack of creativity of Linkin, especially their annoying rapper and producer. Perhaps Shinoda was already thinking of Fort Minor back then, but instead of anticipating them by writing new pieces together with Jay-Z, he melds hits from his "Black Album" with those of his band, resulting in tacky and horrendous remixes.

The tracks? "Big Pimpin'/Papercut," "Numb/Encore," and "IZZO/In The End," pseudo hip hop tracks with arrangements that make you want to puke; the renditions of "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" and "99 Problems," which seem like gangsta caricatures of Metallica, Papa Roach, and P.O.D.; and "Jigga What/Faint," useless and sickly compared to "Faint/Toxic" (already online and created by MTV itself), an amusing Linkin Park twist on Britney Spears' single.

Summary by Bot

Released in 2004, Collision Course aimed to blend metal and rap but falls short due to poor remix quality and lack of originality. The reviewer criticizes Linkin Park's rap elements and finds the mashups tedious and unpleasant. While Joseph Hahn and Jay-Z bring skill, the overall project feels uninspired and cluttered. The album is seen as a low point in both artists' discographies.

A horrible commercial operation designed to sell to the pseudo-alternative fools who think Alternative Music revolves around MTV.
