Today I received this album... it came out in 2003 but what can I do... where I live it's like Africa for these things.......anyway...
I had the old album of Ill Nino, "revolution revolucion", their first album.... I must say it was really nice but not very detailed, yet despite everything, I listened to it for several months and it never bored me... very nice even if many reviews were against it for various reasons..
1: it's nu-metal (not really because it's a complete mix of rock metal ballad and Spanish songs) and this type of music is not well regarded by many...
2: it was not very detailed, in the end, according to many, it became boring (it never bored me) for these reasons it always got a 5 at most 6 in reviews.. (I would have given it a good 8...)
But let's talk about this latest one "confession" from the first listen it provokes many sensations in me... the album seems much more detailed compared to the previous one... but I don't even think about it and play it again once it's finished.. the second listen I focus more on the music... it's clear the band is maturing really fast... the sound is still hard and harsh but the voice unlike the old album is calmer.. more reflective... (perhaps the best I've heard after System) as soon as it finishes I play it again... and I listen to it... unlike various new albums (like the one from Limp Bizkit - the unquestionable truth) it doesn't bore and that's a good thing, instead, it forces me to listen to it again and again... so I want to go a bit deeper so I go look for the song lyrics, I must say they're good... of course, nothing shocking.. but for a band still beginning it's a lot... after listening to it 5-6 times I analyze the various songs more deeply and from this review "numb" comes out as the song that is worth the whole album in my opinion, a true masterpiece.. it's a calm song but it has something really special... then there are others like "Te amo..I Hate You" and "How can I live" which are much stronger but do not go unnoticed at all.. (how can i live was the first single of this album) then it moves on to songs like "This Time´s for real" and "cleasing" that linger in your mind and do not leave you... the other songs are like the old ones with calm parts and very strong parts. This gives a very particular aspect to the whole album with melodies that recall the traditions of Spain and South America...
In the end, I can recommend this album to everyone... it doesn't bore and all the songs have choruses that get more beautiful each time you hear them...
It doesn't matter whether you love it or hate it, I reviewed it to talk about it and I would be pleased to meet some fans of this still little-known group (unfortunately because they truly deserve it..)
"Ill Niño is much more accessible than before: not that this is necessarily a fault; in fact, the band has matured significantly and has created an album full of great songs."
"Outbursts akin to Machine Head, radio-friendly melodies, pure underground nu-metal, tribal rhythms, excellent technical and vocal performance, and an almost perfect production is what you’ll find on the album."
Ill Nino is a decidedly unique band, fusing classic nu metal with Latin rock and typical Latin American sounds.
Confession and more generally El Nino represent the REVOLUCION of Metal. Truly very good.
A truly original band that has managed to blend the sounds of Metal with Latin Rock.
"How Can I Live" completely synthesizes the content of the new work of the group with great rhythm and melodic/angry singing.
